Casa Cielo Jungle House is a private jungle compound located within Cielo Ranch Reserve, our 105-acre private wildlife reserve and working cattle ranch in northern Costa Rica. The entire compound is reserved exclusively for your group, giving families and friends the privacy of their own Costa Rican jungle retreat.
The compound includes three separate lodging spaces: Casa Cielo Jungle House, the Casita Loft, and the Jungalow, along with a swimming pool, outdoor entertaining areas and access to the reserve.
Casa Cielo Jungle House
The main house is a modern two-story jungle home designed around indoor-outdoor living. Large openings on the main level connect the house with the surrounding gardens, pool and outdoor spaces. Much of the home's cabinetry, furniture and woodwork was made using teak and native woods harvested from Cielo Ranch Reserve as part of our long-term sustainable forestry program. The main level includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining deck overlooking the pool, king bedroom, full bathroom, outdoor mudroom, and guest laundry room. Upstairs, the great room opens onto elevated observation decks and walkways surrounded by the forest canopy. This is one of our favorite places for morning coffee, wildlife watching, sunsets, and views toward the Arenal and Tenorio volcanoes.
The upper level also includes a spacious king master bedroom with private bathroom and partially outdoor shower, plus an additional queen bedroom and bathroom.
Casita Loft
Located beside the main house, the Casita Loft provides additional private accommodations while keeping everyone close to the group. It features a king bed on the main level, two queen beds in the loft, a full bathroom, kitchenette and living area. It's particularly well suited for a family or members of a larger group who appreciate having their own space.
The Jungalow
Our newest addition to the compound, the Jungalow offers another private sleeping space surrounded by the jungle. The Jungalow features a king bed, full bath, mini fridge and service bar, sitting areas on the front porch and elevated balcony. It provides a more intimate jungle experience while remaining part of the private Casa Cielo compound.
Pool & Outdoor Living
The swimming pool and surrounding gardens form the heart of the compound. Multiple decks provide areas for relaxing, sunbathing, and gathering together. The poolside rancho includes seating, a service area, and a refrigerator, making it an ideal place for families and groups to spend the afternoon together. There is also a poolside restroom and shower as well. The surrounding gardens are filled with tropical plants, fruit trees and forest vegetation, and wildlife regularly moves through the surrounding jungle corridor.
Rositas — Your Private Dining & Gathering Space
Also included with the compound is Rositas, our private dining and kitchen area reserved exclusively for Casa Cielo guests. Rositas gives families and groups a dedicated place to gather for meals without crowding into the main house. Daily breakfast is served here, making it a natural meeting place to start the day together before heading out to explore the reserve or on an adventure. The space includes a dining area and kitchen and can also be used for our optional dinner services. Whether you're enjoying breakfast together, planning the day's activities over Costa Rican coffee, or gathering for dinner after a day of exploring, Rositas adds another private shared space to the Casa Cielo experience. Like the rest of the compound, Rositas is for our guests only—there is no public restaurant or outside dining traffic.
Breakfast & Included Services
Daily breakfast is included with your stay. Breakfast features a small selection of traditional Costa Rican dishes and North American favorites, accompanied by fresh tropical fruit, Costa Rican coffee and tea. We also include basic daily housekeeping, trash collection, and toiletry resupply so guests can spend more time enjoying their vacation and less time taking care of the house. We can also assist with private transportation, rental cars, private guides, and tours and activities throughout the Arenal/La Fortuna and northern Costa Rica region. Additional experiences and services may include dinner service, massages, guided experiences, tree climbing, and special-event planning. Please ask us about availability and pricing.
Cielo Ranch Reserve
The real difference between Casa Cielo and a typical vacation rental is what surrounds it. Casa Cielo is located within Cielo Ranch Reserve, a 105-acre private wildlife reserve, reforestation project and working cattle ranch.
Our family purchased the former dairy farm in 2006 and began restoring the property, planting thousands of trees including native Mountain Almond—an important food source for the endangered Great Green Macaw. Nearly two decades later, the recovering forest provides habitat for an extraordinary variety of wildlife. Guests may encounter howler, white-faced and spider monkeys, sloths, toucans, Great Curassows, Great Green Macaws and many other tropical birds and animals. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but discovering what appears each day is part of living in the jungle. Private trails lead through areas of secondary and primary forest, reforestation projects, wetlands, and along the Pataste River. Because these trails are located within the reserve and are primarily for our guests, they offer a very different experience from visiting a crowded national park.
Experience the Working Ranch
Cielo Ranch Reserve is also a working cattle ranch. Depending on the day's ranch activities, guests may have opportunities to see the cattle, milk cows, and participate in daily farm activities taking place around the reserve. It's especially memorable for families traveling with children and gives guests a glimpse of rural Costa Rican life that most visitors never experience.
A Different Kind of Costa Rica Vacation
Casa Cielo isn't designed to feel like a resort. It's for travelers who want privacy, nature, wildlife and space to reconnect with family and friends, while still having comfortable accommodations, a swimming pool, breakfast, housekeeping and personalized help planning their Costa Rica vacation. You can spend the day exploring Arenal and La Fortuna—or stay right here, walk into the forest, watch monkeys from the house, enjoy the pool and experience the rhythms of life on a private Costa Rican reserve.
One compound. One group. Your own piece of the Costa Rican jungle.
