Very easy to check in and out, trendy decor and excellent location. Two pieces of feedback: king mattress was lumpy on one side and made it an uncomfortable night's sleep, the second side was better. The bathroom flood flooded with (clean) water when I flushed the toilet.

The Generator dorm rooms are attractive for the competitive pricing compared to regular hotels in DC. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the functionality of the bunk beds with their little charging station, night light, and curtain. Overall bathroom was clean but small, w/o window, and w/o any "exhaust" air fan. Locks for the bunk storage are not provided. The common area was great for hanging around with a laptop or phone, lots of charging ports. Reception staff was nice. Walkable from DuPont Circle Metro station. I did not like the hours and prices of the bar restaurant and cafe. Cafe closes at 2pm, so you are out of luck for any coffee in the afternoon. Restaurant closes around 9pm, so that fell short in terms of service besides that they charge $4.50 for a can of soda to go. All that while signage says to not be stingy and to not bring outside food and drinks. But the reality is, you have to. Overall, the hard-working Cafe staff was understaffed in the busy morning hours. Bottom line is, that for a 4-person room the price/value ratio remains just so-so IMHO.

The Generator was a fantastic hotel for our school group! We stayed in the bunk bed rooms and they were perfect for our students. The location was also great and has a very close bus stop that made transportation very easy. The staff was so helpful at the front desk, cafe, and restaurant. I am overall extremely happy with our experience at the Generator and will come back for future school trips!

The staff were so friendly and helpful and the place was mostly clean. The only annoying things were the mosquitos in the lobby and needing to constantly go to the lobby to borrow the hair dryer as it is not kept in the room. But everything else was great

Location very good Service in breakfast line needs improvement : not efficient to make nearby front desk agent do double duty , that is , leaving front desk with no one there to help guests needing assistance. Also Generator should make coffee drinks such as lattes in a bigger size .
