City Club Suite - Downtown #55 The Cupola Suite

Our guests say this is a hidden gem in historic downtown Wilmington! This one-bedroom suite features a private bath, kitchen, and temporary membership to Wilmington's exclusive City Club. Enjoy a comfortable living room complete with desk, sofa and Roku TV. Sleep in the luxury king-sized bed and relax in the large jacuzzi tub or stand-up shower.
Please note that the fireplaces are not functional, as they are many years old and just not safe. We hope to have them back for winter 2025.Also, we no longer provide parking with the stay. There are numerous paid and free parking spaces in the downtown area.
The Inn at City Club is within walking distance of many other fine and casual dining restaurants, coffee shops, nightclubs, and local theaters.
During your stay at this apartment building, you're just a quick walk from Riverwalk. The apartment includes amenities such as a fireplace and a TV.

80th Birthday Getaway

The City Club Suite was the perfect venue for a romantic birthday get-away! The City Club itself - with its garden and restaurant - is found in one of the loveliest homes in the district. We loved the historic neighborhood that was central to everything in Wilmington, particularly Riverwalk, fine restaurants (including City Club) and the historic district. The room was beautifully appointed and equipped with everything we needed. Communications from Tom, our host, were clear and he responded quickly when I had a question. (There was no ice available in the room, but the restaurant was generous enough to provide it upon request.) For less active seniors, the steps of the circuitous route to the room (and particularly to the cuppola) may be daunting, but we had no problem and loved the whole experience.

Good Downtown Location

It was really gross having the bathroom and the kitchen in the same area. When you flushed the toilet you could hear and smell it from the kitchen sink. Doesn't help you can see the kitchen sink from the toilet. Only 2 full size towels. Fireplace didn't work. Internet kept crashing so we couldn't stream anything. Good Downtown Location.

Spectacular Location with Southern Hospitality!

You cannot beat the location! We enjoyed a long weekend in the Cuppola room. The room and bathroom are very spacious (the photos in the listing are current). The Cuppola is small, so we did not spend time there. The bed was comfortable and the bed linens were nice. For those working remotely, the wifi worked great! The only other comments about the room would be: you can hear the music past midnight on the weekends and early Sunday morning when sleeping, the bath towels and dishes are due to be replaced and it would be nice to be able to cool the room a little more when sleeping (but, there is a portable fan in the room for more air flow). BUT, even with these items realized, we would definitely stay there again! It is a very special place! Tom (host) was VERY responsive. The parking is included (and convenient). The location is spectacular—it is a very short walk to restaurants, shops, farmers markets, the river etc. City Club is very charming, the staff are so warm, welcoming and ensure your stay is wonderful. The Sunday brunch is a must do! Be sure to enjoy a drink on the porch overlooking the beautiful garden during your stay. We cannot wait to go back!

Enjoyed the location and convenience of being downtown. The views were great from the room. The large tub was great for relaxation. Just wished we could have cooled the room a little more. The thermostat was locked at 68. It got rather warm our first night.

Old World charm + modern amenities!!!❤️

Wonderful property! Spectacular sunsets in the 360 view Belvedere😍… Enjoyed walking around downtown, where everything your heart desires is practically at your fingertips. Then come back to soak in the jet tub as you sip on a glass of your favorite wine!! We had a short trip but it was fabulous!!❤️. Hopefully we can visit again soon!

Perfection!!

We stayed here for our mini honeymoon and could not have been happier with the decision! Ideal location in downtown Wilmington — walking distance to everything! The cupola suite was so nice and we loved hanging out upstairs with the view of the city! 10/10 would recommend!!!

Beautiful Inn near everything

Wonderful room near all the activities in downtown Wilmington. Loved the cupola, beautiful views. Plenty of space and loved the mini fridge and microwave in the bathroom. Very easy access and parking. Great farmers market on Saturday morning and nice restaurants, bars and icecream within 2 blocks. Would definitely return.

Romantic night out

We’re locals who stayed in this room the night we h go to married and enjoyed staying again for our 7th anniversary. It’s a convenient location and the room is beautiful. We love the cupola! The gardens are also amazing if you enjoy that sort of thing as much as I do. Very easy to get Into and the manager of the property is very responsive. We’ll definitely be back!

Easy entry and great location

Lovely location and views. The spiral staircase is steep as it is a beautiful historic home so be careful but the views are worth it. Ample room and decor. Tom was able to help me get in when I had trouble but it was completely user error so great communication. Although we didn't have time to enjoy it, there is also a restaurant and bar to attend, free parking, and walking distance to anything you may need.

Absolutely spectacular location in the Wilmington historic district in an antebellum mansion. My room was very comfortable and featured a spiral staircase leading up to a rooftop cupola with views of the city and riverfront. It makes for a memorable stay, and I'll be back.

Mother-daughter getaway

This was such a nice stay for my sister and I to take our mom while she was in town visiting. It gave us the opportunity to go out downtown for dinner and drinks and enjoy an easy stroll back to the City Club for the evening. Upon arriving at the Inn, our rooms were beautiful - quintisential historic charm. We had a nice surprise awaiting our arrival with cheddar and blueberry biscuits from a local bakery - the perfect treat since we were quite hungry and they gave us something delicious to nibble on while we got ready. Check in and access was super easy, and it was very nice having the parking pass - especially with a weekend stay and street parking being hard to come by. We were able to have one run up to grab it from the room and bring it down for us so we didn't have to drive in circles looking for something. The beds were so comfortable in both rooms that we had. It was nice having seating too where we could hang out in the room. The little extras like the robes, tea and coffee, popcorn, etc were unexpected and nice touches. During your stay - make sure you run down to the porch for sunset - it's one of my favorite views downtown. While we didn't eat there this visit, I know from past experiences that the dining and bar at the City Club is fantastic as well, so knowing that that is an option with our stay was very nice also. I highly recommend the staying here for a staycation, or sending guests there while they're in town for a nice treat. We decided we will have to make it a regular event! We had so much fun!

What a cool place!

Wow! We never knew that you don't have to be a member of the city club to stay there! It's a perfect place - such cool suites and so close to all the downtown activities! We live in W'ton but stayed here for a weekend "get-away". The place was spacious, comfortable & well appointed - and get this: our room had a spiral staircase up to a roof-top cupola with a cool view of downtown! Super cool! Like staying in a lighthouse. The wifi even worked great up there so we were in the cupola for hours of relaxing sunshine. We'll be back to try the other beautiful suites!

Staycation in style in downtown Wilmington!

We had a wonderful time staying in the rooms attached to the City Club. The location is fabulous, we walked everywhere. The room is lovely, big 4 poster bed, fireplace, large tub and shower and tons of old world charm but with upgraded amenities. We stayed in the Cupula room which had a view over the top of Wilmington. The bed and pillows were so comfy, I wanted to take them home. The hosts were very attentive, checking in to be sure everything was ok. I will definitely go back!
