Simple apartment house "Memory". In the district of Trift 750 m from the centre of Zermatt, in a quiet, sunny position on a slope. In the house: central heating system, washing machine, tumble dryer (for shared use, extra). Steep footpath (60 steps) to the house. Supermarket 700 m, restaurant 300 m, bakery 400 m, 15 minute walk to the centre, bus stop "Bahnhof", railway station "Bahnhof Zermatt" 750 m. Mountain railway 750 m, ski rental 700 m, ski bus stop 750 m, ski school, children's ski school 450 m. Please note: no lift. Cabs cannot stop right in front of the house. The keys‘ handover takes place by the agency Interhome in Zermatt.
3-room apartment 70 m2 on 2nd floor. Simple and practical furnishings: living room with TV, radio and DVD. Exit to the balcony. 1 room with 1 double bed (2 x 90 cm, length 200 cm). 1 room with 1 bed (90 cm, length 200 cm), 1 x 2 bunk beds (90 cm, length 200 cm). Kitchen-/living room (4 hot plates, oven, toaster, kettle, freezer, electric coffee machine, fondue Set (chinoise)) with dining table. Bath/WC. Balcony. Balcony furniture. Beautiful view of the mountains and the resort. Facilities: hair dryer. Internet (WiFi, free). Please note: non-smokers only.

The listing advertises the property as being “1 minute walk from Zermatt-Matterhorn Ski Paradise” and the Furi ski area, which strongly suggests convenient access for skiing. Based on this description, we booked the property for our family ski trip.However, the actual access to the property was completely different from what was implied in the listing and created a very difficult and unsafe situation for our family.We arrived as a family of five with three children and seven large pieces of luggage, including ski equipment. Because taxis are not able to drop guests at the property, we were forced to walk a very steep uphill path for a long distance while dragging heavy luggage. The path was icy and slippery, and members of our family slipped and fell while trying to carry bags and ski equipment.At no point before the final payment were we informed that:Taxis cannot access the propertyGuests must walk a significant distance uphill with luggageThe route can be icy and unsafe in winterDaily skiing would require walking the same steep path in ski boots while carrying skisHad this been clearly disclosed, we would not have booked this accommodation, especially with children and ski gear.

We enjoyed the beautiful view and the beds were comfortable. I didn't like that after I booked it, I saw all of the extra fees for sheets and towels per person, big cleaning charge separate from linen charge (but I was required to put out the trash down the hill & wash all of the dishes and put them away), and per person tax to be collected, plus check in is not convenient. We needed to walk to the rental agency to pick up the key for our first night, and again return the next day to sign paperwork during certain hours. The blinds were very difficult to close, so the first night we didn't sleep well because there is a large bright light right outside the bedroom window. The company came and shut them the next day upon our request, and we never opened them again. There is an elevator to take you much of the hike up, but this owner does not provide access to it for renters. Note that taxis cannot drive you up the big hill. It is a very steep hike up that I would not want to do in the winter, but we were fine with it for summer. Note the owner does not provide wifi but there are places to catch free wifi in town.
