I requested to check in early, even though they said they can’t guarantee it - the room was ready when we arrived. Kudos to all - its very much appreciated. The staff are very polite and attentive.
I’d also like that there was an oat milk in the fridge, It was handy when I couldn’t find one at the breakfast area. I didn’t have to ask for it, and I had enjoyed my cuppa instead in the room.
Would have been nice to arrive in the room with a bottle of water though? But again, knowing you can drink the water from the tap in Scotland, this is just a wee observation.
Starting with some positives the grounds are splendid and the entrance to the hotel very impressive. After having had breakfast we were dubious about having dinner at the hotel but our fears proved unfounded and both the choice and quality of food was very good. Most staff were friendly and as helpful as possible whilst seeming under pressure of work.
The negatives I’m afraid far outweighed the positives; the afore mentioned breakfast is a very sad affair badly cooked with only fried eggs and mostly tinned fruit. Staffing seems to be a problem as each morning items were in short supply or missing, requiring guests to request (in my case) bowls, water to be replenished and eggs. The most disappointing aspect of the stay was the housekeeping which can only be described as dire. Generally the fabric of the building, carpets, decor etc. is very
tired to the point that the carpets in the orridors look dirty, in the bedroom they were very dirty.
During the stay whilst housekeeping had been in the room ( bed badly made) I was forced to go to reception for toilet paper as it had not been replenished. Having used the two cups in the room for tea on the first night these were never replaced or cleaned during our stay. Body wash doubled at hand soap!!! Plenty of towels provided. Not at all like any other four star hotel we have ever stayed in and judging by the number of complaints we witnessed from other guests it is unlikely to retain this stat
This is my second time at Ardoe and I just love it there. You can’t get more picturesque, unique or enjoyable than staying in a small castle. The grounds are magical with highland cows over the hill and sheep grazing down the garden. The staff are lovely and the dining options are wonderful. Soapies Bar is a cozy’s and friendly gathering place. Hope to return again!
We recently stayed at the Ardoe House Hotel. The building and property are beautiful from the outside. Our room was just okay but definitely needed attention. The curtains were partly off of the hooks and dangling. The shower had a little bit of mold around the edges. The real problem is the majority of the staff. I'd label most of them as snobby. The bar was incredibly slow and when we asked for a coffee we were told by the bartender that he didn't know how to make coffee. I really wanted to like this place and i did like the grounds. The hotel itself needs help.
We were at a wedding at another hotel so it was a late check in the night staff were absolutely brilliant couldn’t help us anymore
Breakfast was superb definitely stay again
We have been to this hotel on many occasions as we always enjoy our stay at the ardour hotel , on this occasion we sadly had to make a complaint about the room as the housekeeping was below he usual standard the carpet was very dusty along the edges and behind the furniture and what looked like talc on the bathroom floor. Overall we still enjoyed our stay, bed comfy and breakfast good, would still go back

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The staff make or break the customer experience. When we arrived at check in there was no welcome atmosphere. We felt like an inconvenience. Very abrupt staff, vague answers to our questions. Don’t care attitude. Disappointed because this charming hotel lacks the customer service and welcome you’d expect.
Nice room, comfortable bed, good breakfast, dinner at Blair's restaurant was good. The bed looked like it had been made by a 10 year old and the room was very hot of a night. The corridor was a lot cooler than our room. A fan would have helped. We were disappointed with our stay as it wasn't up to expectations.
Room 147 was a long walk from reception up stairs then downstairs at the other end. Smelly damp corridor and windows were opened to mask the smell we suspect. Newly renovated room not great as torn section of wallpaper missing, black and yellow mold on shower tiles and around tray. Tv didn't work well, just a couple of channels working.
Did mention tiles on leaving. Breakfast was ok, standard.
