It was a fabulous stay and the staff were fantastic.
we had one issue in that on Saturday the bathroom tap came off in my wife's hand. I managed to push it together temporarily to stem the leak. The Hotel had no maintenance staff on site over the weekend and when we left on Sunday at lunch time the tap had not been repaired. This was not good.
Everything about this place was top-shelf! From the wonderful entrance to the hallways leading to the spacious well-equipped rooms, to the excellent food in the restaurant and the smooth drinks from the bar. However the “Great Room” which is the oldest location of Maryculter House (dating back to the 1200’s) was simply amazing!
Sitting quietly in the great room both late in the evening or early in the morning, you are overcome with the past and those who shared this room throughout the centuries!
Walking the grounds is a relaxing experience to give you a break from the go, go, go of travel.
We can’t recommend Maryculter House enough, and thank our friends who recommended it to us!
The Maryculter House hotel is set in picturesque grounds by the side of the river Dee, and is very popular for weddings as a result parking can be challenging despite there being lots of spaces . The rooms are spacious and often with spectacular veiws . The restaurant and staff offer a very relaxed and informal dinning experience with a menu that reflects the best of Scotland.
Lovely rooms. Beautiful building with plenty of character. Barman was super friendly and helpful-Alex. Breakfast was so-so. We did not have dinner. Great location for exploring Aberdeen and dunnotar castle
Would stay again. //
Overall an almost great wpxerince. The property sits right on the River Dee, which our room overlooked. Very nice room but the mattress has seen better days…no spring! The dinner at the onsite restaurant was amazing; breakfast was lacking in comparison…how do you mess up orange juice?. The staff were very nice and helpful.
Next yo the river. Beautiful, isolated location. Charming, modernized rooms. Attentive, welcoming staff. Quiet environment although could hear loud speaking people in corridor outside the room.
This was by far one of the most unique and exquisite hotels I have ever stayed at. The named rooms were of old historical style beautifully kept and containing all the modern amenities needed. The best part of the hotel was the Great Room - it was GREAT!!! Loved it and spent much of our time in that room while at the hotel - words cant' describe how special it was. Hotel service was impeccable. The staff and management were all extremely attentive to our needs and questions. The food and drinks were visually impressive and very tasty. The salmon and scrambled egg breakfast was the best. Loved their Whiskey flights. I highly recommend this hotel to all, especially those that have a love for historical medieval culture! I give the Maryculter House 15 out of 10 stars! This place will remain a good memory for my wife and I forever. And don't forget to visit the Templar cathedral and graveyard just next to the hotel. Lots of history there. And the river next to the entire place was very beautiful and relaxing. Staying here allowed us to revitalize and immerse ourselves in the true culture of old! Almost forgot, the Molton shampoo and body wash were very refreshing - unlike anything we've ever experienced from a hotel - very very nice. Everything at the Maryculter House was of the highest quality and standards... Absolutely no complaints, except that we eventually had to leave :)
I thiroughly enjoyed my stay. What a beautiful setting and the room was lovely. Staff very hellful and polite. All in all i am verry happy to recommend!
Fascinating hotel, particularly for its history and remarkably beautiful location on the River Dee. Charming accommodations and a talented chef made for an enjoyable stay.
