This was my first stay at this hotel and I was happy with the choice. I arrived slightly earlier than check in time and they arranged for my room to be ready earlier. The rooms and bathroom are a good size. Housekeeping and all staff are very polite friendly. There is a good sized pool with a large number of sun beds and then opposite there is the option of the beach as well. With other hotels you sometimes have to walk a bit of a distance but with this hotel they are right next to each other so you can easily hop onto whichever you prefer. If you are going to be doing lots of sightseeing it is not very close to the main attractions which was fine with me however you will need to factor in journey time and costs as well if that's what you are intend to do a lot of. I did eat a lunch and supper at the restaurant on one occasion and though it is a good choice from the buffet I think it was a bit on the expensive side for what it was. If you took a taxi and went to one of the closer malls both the return taxi ride journey and your plethora of choices of restaurants at the mall would most likely end up being cheaper than paying for either lunch or dinner at the restaurant. Decent choice for the breakfast buffet as well with friendly hospitality staff. I used the spa once and I would recommend it. They also have a jacuzzi and sauna. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite. The food selection and quality at breakfast and dinner was first class, as was the service in the executive lounge. We received a free room upgrade overlooking the pool and the Grand Mosque, which was a real added bonus.

second time we were staying at this Shangri La. Food is absolutely beautiful here. The buffet spread is overwhelming, there is absolutely no way you can even try everything. The staff and service in general is definitely top. Rooms are clean. Overall the whole place is very welcoming and accommodating. I will definitely go back again.

From the welcoming at the door, to the facilities, the food, the warmth , I cannot give enough praise to ALL the staff at the hotel ! The chefs were exception and catered to my wife's dietary requests. Unfortunately I cannot remember everyones name but I whole heartly thank ALL the staff who made my Birthday stay memorable , some of the names I have are Diane,Yubraj,Hu,the gentleman who did the Gondola rides,the breakfast hostess, the doorman and welcome men and everyone working in Shangri-La from 06/01 to 08/01 = everyone is exceptional!

This was my first trip to Abu Dhabi and it was fabulous. My suite was beautiful. Great view of the pool and beach area. It was quiet and the staff was very accommodating. The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. I took a few tours and people on the tour bus were impressed by the beauty of the property. The Chi Spa was a splendid experience. I tried the room service and dined at the bar and grill, the food was very tasty.

So superb I had to return. Please check out my previous review from December 2024. It was so good I went back for more in November 2025, and will definitely return again! When you find excellence it can be a risk to try and repeat it, not so with the Shangri La Abu Dhabi. The workforce are so amazing it is hard to find words to compliment and congratulate high enough. They were ready and waiting for me, they remembered what special and personal touches made the difference for me. My biggest smile had to be when they surprised me with having a particular preference that they do not normally offer. They had remembered and had pre planned for my stay, that is excellence at its very best. Their Horizon Club Premier rooms are beyond superb, made so perfect by the most thoughtful and expert housekeeping team you could hope for. Abu Dhabi has been by go to chill out hero for more than 20 years and the Shangri La is the outstanding winner amongst all the other hotels I have stayed with. I applaud and send my thanks to every single member of the SL AD team, concierge, front desk, housekeeping, recreation , food and beverage, all 400+ of you. You are all special and important. The Shangri la lived up to its standards… we stayed with our three and one year old for 7 nights and were made to feel at home, the staff were excellent, they were so friendly and helpful, we stayed in an executive suite which was very spacious and had a typical Shangri la decor which we love, the lobby area is always stand out, a bonus was we had the horizon club lounge access which offers certain drinks and nibbles at dedicated times which was a nice, the infinity pool was great with a lovely view of the grand central mosque, the private beach was nice a clean, the restaurants on site were very good with the buffet offering theme nights as well as a Michelin star Chinese restaurant, the location is good with nothing being out of reach of 20 minutes, there is a souk next door which caters to shopping needs, they offer a abra (boat) ride around the hotel which is relaxing… they also offer water sports on the beach and the concierge is very helpful, we had a fantastic stay to say the least

Not enough poolside seating, especially when the hotel decides to host a dragon boat event ent for over 1500 people on the private beach, close the beach and also operate a brunch the same day. Not enough staff and attention to detail was poor. Staff are run ragged! Felt sorry for them, but hotel guests were neglected over the events happening. This was not ok.
