Hahndorf is a pretty town and the Old Mill is nicely positioned close to an array of dining options and shops. Accessing our upstairs room was like being in Fawlty Towers but it is an old building so some quirkiness can be expected. Our room overlooked the street and was generally ok. But the shower door was broken and the shower arm was not strong enough to stay horizontal when the shower was turned on and slumped downwards. The bed is on the hard side. We had dinner here and it was good.

We were grateful for an 'upgrade' to avoid the stairs but the motel room we were provided was very dated, especially the bathroom. However it was clean and tidy, is in a great loaction with friendly staff. We'd probably stay again if we brought our own pillows.

I requested a Queen size bed for a start and ended up with a standard double which I complained about once we entered the room, went back to the so called reception and were told they were booked out and we couldnt be moved. We changed our clothes and left to go to our wedding @ Forreston. On our return at approx 1130 pm we found that 2 legs on the bed were broken, there was a shopping docket from 5 weeks previously found under the bed. So when was the room last cleaned? No power point near the bed for my husbands CPAP machine to plug into. The light switch was near the door as you enter and once you turn this off there was no way of finding your way to the bed as there werent any bed lamps, and the lamp that was above the mirror on the opposite wall didnt have a globe in it. The window curtain hem was hanging down and had been for some time by the look of it. Wood was missing from the surface of the so called bench that the kettle was on. Varnish was missing from most of the furniture. The whole room looked totally neglected and yet they have the audacity to charge $180 a night.... what a JOKE ! No staff available to talk to upon checkout. you just leave your room key on the bedside table and lock the door on your way out... GOOD LUCK TO THE NEXT OCCUPANT....
