The room had a really bad smell and I opened a window to try and freshen it up a bit, but that didn’t work. When I went downstairs to ask for another room, I was challenged as if I was lying or something and I said to reception, “I’m happy for you to go up there and verify for yourself,” and they wouldn’t, Instead they kept saying their rooms are never smelly, etc. I asked if I could just get a refund and look for another hotel and they wouldn’t do that either. I won’t be staying there again.

Almost don’t want to give it 5 stars out of fear it will be full next time I am in Amsterdam, it’s that great! This is a wonderful, unique and ideally located boutique hotel that is a pure delight. The staff is wonderful, friendly, incredibly nice and helpful. Lots of little touches, like nibbling cookies by the 24 hour coffee, a shelf full of guides on Amsterdam, a little packet of treats on checkout, and so much more. Numerous little local cafes within a block or two in a quiet residential section just minutes from Dam Square.

Jordaan area

Great small hotel with charm. Clean and great area safe for solo traveler. Simple, yet filling breakfast and afternoon pastries. Laundry services available. Staff friendly and helpful. Simple twin bed room was small and yet perfect for being out for most of the day.
