4 Bedroom Westlake Castle | Stone Tower, Skyline Views, Heated Pool
Lucy in the Sky is a hand-built Old World storybook castle on five private acres, tucked into the hills of West Lake Hills and ten minutes from downtown Austin. It is not a house dressed up to look old. It was made this way on purpose, stone by stone, with a copper-topped tower, secret staircases, salvaged stained glass, and a great room built like a medieval hall. If your group has ever wanted to stay somewhere that feels like Game of Thrones and Harry Potter at once, this is the one.
The castle is a compound of stone-and-stucco buildings under slate roofs, threaded with stone paths, wisteria, and mature oaks. In warm months the outdoor life takes over. A curved heated pool is terraced into the hillside with a lounge lawn and canopy string lights, and a series of covered decks reach out over the canyon, including a vine-covered patio framed by dragon-themed wrought-iron railings. Grill dinner on the balcony as the Hill Country turns gold, then climb the tower for a skyline view at dusk.
Inside, the house rewards wandering. Four bedrooms sleep ten, with two en-suite retreats, two more bedrooms that share a bath, and a marble library that could hold your group for hours on its own. Every room carries its own detail, from Venetian plaster and flagstone to hand-carved beams and jewel-toned glass, without giving up modern comfort.

THE MAIN HOUSE
A custom Tiffany-style stained-glass front door opens onto a flagstone entry where vaulted wood-beamed ceilings and Venetian-plastered walls set the tone. Just off the entry, a pool room centers on a hand-sculpted Green Man masonry hearth surrounded by travertine, with hundred-year-old antique doors that frame the courtyard through medieval glass. To the left is the library of the house, marble floors underfoot, a coffered ceiling in faux-embossed copper overhead, wall-to-wall bookcases, and an interior Juliet balcony with a view over the great room. It reads as a classic library or an office and hobby lounge, and its stained glass was built from two-hundred-year-old salvaged panes.
The great room is the centerpiece. Cathedral ceilings carry salvaged Hemlock jackhammer trusses above two-inch Arizona Rosa flagstone, travertine wainscoting with carved stone edges rings the Venetian plaster, and an antique brass and alabaster chandelier throws a soft glow that mixes with the color from the leaded glass. A cultured stone hearth anchors the room, set with candlelight, and the space opens to a vine-covered patio with dragon-themed wrought-iron railings and sweeping views of the grounds. Tucked into a back corner, the owner's suite is a private wing with hemlock beams, hand-scraped teak floors, and a castle-style bath with river-rock shower walls, double vanities, and a walk-in closet. Its own flagstone patio waits just outside under a canopy of green.
Down a hall in the original wing, an informal living room brings the group together with stone-covered walls, built-in bookcases, and hand-chiseled mesquite mantels, flowing straight through to the kitchen and out to a deck with rolling Hill Country views. The kitchen is built for a crowd, with an oversized island and double copper sink beneath an ornate iron pot rack, a gas range set into a stacked-stone alcove, double ovens, a walk-in pantry with a window seat, and a thermal chimney cupola with a copper roof overhead. The adjacent dining room seats up to twelve beneath mahogany windows and jewel-toned glass. Upstairs, two bedrooms and a shared bath sit off the circular staircase, and the spiral stair climbs to the tower, a serene reading and meditation nook with panoramic views. There is also an Old World Parlor for the group, and a lower-level suite with a full wall of built-in shelving and outdoor access.
THE OUTDOOR LIVING COMPLEX
The grounds are the reason to come in spring and summer. The curved pool is heated and set into a terraced travertine deck backed by a stacked-stone retaining wall, with a turf lounge lawn, chaise lounges, and canopy string lights that glow after dark. Covered decks and balconies wrap the buildings, each framing a different slice of the canyon, and one carries a gas grill and picnic dining for long evenings outside. Beyond the terraces, five private acres roll out in wildflowers, mature oaks and cedars, wisteria, and stone paths, with a nature trail winding down to a creekbed and a koi pond beside a detached workshop. The vine-covered great-room patio, with its dragon-railing overlook, is the one everyone photographs.
THE LOCATION
West Lake Hills sits close-in enough that downtown Austin is only twelve minutes away yet quiet enough to feel a world apart. The Westlake HEB is six minutes down the road, and the Barton Creek Greenbelt is eight, with trailheads and swimming holes for morning hikes. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are both about twelve minutes, South Congress and its restaurants and music are fifteen, and the University of Texas and the Austin Convention Center are fourteen. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a twenty-minute drive, Circuit of the Americas is twenty-eight, and the shops and dining of the Hill Country Galleria are sixteen. It is a rare address that puts the Greenbelt, the skyline, and the airport all within easy reach.
