Disappointing Stay with Unexpected Charges – Beware! I recently stayed at Tandem Hotel in Lisbon, and my experience was highly disappointing due to misleading charges and poor customer service. I booked and paid $148 in advance through Expedia, assuming that was the full cost of my stay. However, upon arrival, the front desk agent informed me that I owed additional taxes, which I expected. But then he claimed that Expedia had not charged me for the room at all and insisted I pay $112 directly to the hotel. Caught off guard, I provided my card. Later, I discovered I had been charged twice—once by Expedia for $148 and again by Tandem for $112. This was never disclosed upfront, and had I known, I would have never stayed there. Upon returning to the U.S., I realized there was no way to dispute the charge directly with the hotel, making this even more frustrating. Key Issues:    •   Misleading pricing – Expedia listed one amount,

Great breakfast. Couldn't control the room temperature during the winter. I guess it is set up only with heater. We had to open the window to cool the room, then it was noisy. Besides that, it was great!

The hotel to be in Aveiro

Hotel was perfect simply. Great room , very clean and tidy , close to shops and restaurants ( Aveiro is a very small town ) , excellent service and a great breakfast too. Cannot write anything negative about the hotel at all.

Lovely hotel destroyed by deceptive marketing

The hotel itself is lovely, the staff is friendly but the booking was the worst kind of bait and switch. We booked 3 deluxe canal view rooms; we received one room twice as big as the others ad none had canal views. Of course the hotel is fully booked so there is nothing the friendly staff can do to make things right. It's fine hotel, they do not need to lie about what they are providing you. Deceptive advertising practices leave more than a bad taste in my mouth. The knowledge that there is nothing I can do to correct it only makes it worse. Reviewing the listings I see that while we paid for deluxe rooms with canal views two of our rooms were simply standard rooms, which sell for €25 less per night. The third, like the others, did not have the promised canal view. I am requesting that we be refunded at least the difference between what we paid for and what we received. Let’s see if the hotel does the honorable thing.
