Booked online and had to do the entire process again at the hotel. Room was in good condition but, extremely hot. It was 105 outside and 90 inside the room. Took close to 4 hours to cool off. We arrived at 11 pm and had to sleep with wet cloths to stay some hat cool

Bad hotel not happy with stay

The ac was noisy and did not cool the room. We booked an accessible room but the room that we got was not accessible. No elevator and they were giving us room on second floor. They said that breakfast is available but it was made to order and restricted. Very bad experience.

I stood in the lobby for 15 minutes, one employee never offered to help. The other was helping a couple with reservation problems. Once we were helped, the front desk employee was not rude, but also not friendly. We parked in the hated area which had 4 old bathtubs and an old vanity around the sides of the hotel. Ferrel cats were being fed on site. Our room was not bad, but a huge and I mean huge cockroach was in the shower. The TV would not work and front desk said the cable was out. It’s a smart TV that had no connection to the internet. Homeless people were hanging around and ultimately I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The staff was phenomenal, very accommodating, and concerned about guests' experience and safety. The property is gated. It's clean and comfortable. It's an older property, but it appears that it's being updated. Free breakfast was served on order, not as a buffet. Food was fine. The pool is huge and was clean. We'd stay again, great value for the money.

Terrible customer service

I booked a business trip for three of my employees through and was only given the option to put one name in. Unfortunately circumstances changed and the employee who I was able to list did not go on the trip. The hotel staff refused to allow either one of my other adult employees to check into the room I booked and refused to let me change name even though I booked and paid for the room and my card was on file. They would not help with a resolution and insisted I could only get help through the booking company. I had to pay for a second room for them to be able to stay because they refused to help with a resolution. I contacted the booking company to cancel the other room and get a refund and was told they have to contact and get approval from the hotel. I finally got a response that the booking company was unable to reach the hotel so they can’t approve a refund. I am severely disappointed with the hotel and am frustrated with the lack of resolution as I have never had an issue with any booking through hotels.com in the past. I do not recommend this hotel

Taking a breather.

Very convenient location, found lots of things to do close by. The cafe and lounge were amazing. The front desk staff were very helpful and informative regarding things to do in Bakersfield. The pool and hot tub (although the hot tub could have been warmer) were like being in a tropical setting! Loved our stay, would definitely come back.

The Buckcafe was phenomenal. The room stunk like cigarettes and the pool was SO GROSS i wouldnt let my kids go swimming. Literally dead roaches in that cesspool. Hard no.

Looks like luxury, but Far from it

The bed was extremely uncomfortable for a hotel bed, felt like springs were poking me. It didn’t feel clean and the bed only starts with a small bedsheet and there is a heavier blanket in the closet, but it smelled dirty, so I chose to throw on sweatpants and a hoodie. The part of town it is located in was not the best at all, but luckily they have a gated lot that was just about empty when we arrived. I was excited to swim in the pool since it looked nice in photos, but it was extremely dirty. The shower was clogged up, so I was standing in water very shortly after I started showering. The lady at check-in was amazing, sweet, and helpful though. She’s the reason I didn’t leave the lowest review possible.

The staff at Hiltop were helpful, pleasant, and made this a relaxing one-night stay along a multi-stop road trip. From the start, Rosie at the front desk was efficient and helpful when we checked in, explaining parking, map of the hotel property, meal options, etc. Other workers around the hotel were equally welcoming. Also noting: In the room, the rainfall shower was a nice touch. Options for the complimentary breakfast in their café style setting were tasty, and another nice touch.
