Welcome to “Fish N’ Chips”!

A beautifully updated, charming 4 BR cedar shake beach home in the Summers Crescent neighborhood of Cape Fear Station near East Beach. Sleeps up to 6 adults, 2 children (2 King beds, 1 Queen bed, Twin bunk). One 6 seater golf cart. Less than 2 minutes by golf cart to the favored East beach. Renovated in early 2022 - new furniture, new paint, new hardwood floors in all bedrooms, and quartz countertops throughout.

Bright and airy reverse floor plan with vaulted ceilings over a spacious kitchen, sunny eating area, and living room. Two king bedrooms and two full bathrooms, as well as a kids’ bunk room with twin bunkbed, are located in the main house.

The lower level king bedroom adjoins the bunk room through a sliding barn door, perfect for families with children. It has an en suite full bath with walk-in shower.

The upper level king bedroom is adjacent to a full bath with shower over tub.

Off the large side deck is a boardwalk to a quaint, private guest cottage with queen bed, full bathroom, TV and mini-fridge/Keurig.

There is a full-sized laundry room in the main house. You can enjoy sitting out on the private side or front deck, listening to the sounds of the ocean. There is a charcoal grill on the deck for evening cookouts.

One 6-seater golf cart, surfboard and stand up paddle board are available for your use. There are a few bicycles that are in "as is" condition. Guests are welcome to use the bicycles we have, or can choose to rent their own on the island from one of the rental shops.

Around the back of the home is a spacious outdoor shower. Beach towels and chairs are provided. Our home is just a 2 minute walk to the Turtle Conservancy, Mike’s Bites and the community park. Ocean-front Shoals Club guest memberships are available for purchase. Shoals Club pools, restaurants, fitness center, and beach accesses are just a 1 minute golf cart ride away!

Fish N’ Chips is a no-pets and no-smoking home. We also own “Not On Call”, a quaint, two BR cottage located a few homes down on the same street from “Fish N’ Chips” - perfect if you are looking for a nearby home for friends or family.

BHI also offers historical tours, kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, guided fishing trips, turtle conservancy, nature trails, shopping, crabbing, etc. So much to enjoy, whether visiting in the midst of summer or in the off-season.

PLEASE NOTE-
Hurricane Policy: If the local Government orders a mandatory evacuation for Bald Head Island AND you don’t stay at our home, you will receive a full refund for the nights the evacuation order is in place. This does not pertain to voluntary evacuations, a situation where travel insurance is certainly beneficial.

If our home becomes uninhabitable for any reason (fire, wind, flood), and we need to cancel, you will receive a full refund for unused days of your stay.

Because of the current pandemic, and because unexpected situations can arise (health, work, date conflicts, etc), we recommend protecting your investment and vacation by purchasing travel insurance.

Camera disclosure: BHI is a special community often described as “going back in time” – while it is a very safe and friendly community, theft can still occur. PLEASE NOTE - in an effort to keep our home protected, we have an outdoor security system. There are three clearly visible exterior cameras located at entry points to the cottage - front door garage, and back porch.

No pet policy violation: We have opted to keep our home pet-free for a variety of reasons, and maintain a strict no-pet policy. Please note that under North Carolina Law, Emotional Support Animals are not exempt from the no-pet policy. Bringing an unauthorized pet to the cottage will incur a $500 fee and, per VrBO policy, your booking can be cancelled without refund.

Our family of four had an absolutely perfect stay at Fish N Chips cottage over the Thanksgiving holiday. Everything about the home was spotless, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was wonderful, and the cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing family trip.The host was incredibly responsive and helpful with any questions we had, which made the entire experience even better. We truly couldn’t have asked for a smoother or more enjoyable stay.We would 100% stay here again and highly recommend Fish N Chips to anyone visiting Bald Head Island!

Wonderfully maintained home, great location!

Fish & Chips was perfect for our trip with family. The teen in our group loved staying in the crofter, and the twin bunk room off of the downstairs bedroom was perfect for a toddler. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and everything in the home was well-maintained. Plenty of beach towels for our family of 6 the beach chairs, toys, golf cart, and surfboard were in excellent condition. The property manager was super responsive and friendly - very easy to work. Beds were so comfortable, my husband took a picture of the tag to order for home! You won't be disappointed with this home for your BHI vacation!

Great place

This was our 2nd trip to Bald Head. The island is beautiful, it has enough outside of the ocean to keep the kids entertained, and the beaches are beautiful. We really liked staying near East Beach where the kids surfed daily. The house was perfectly kept and came exactly as advertised. I recommend it highly.

Cute Little Cottage

It's a nice little house in the maritime forest area of the island which I really like. It's very near the Shoals Club and a short, easy drive to the Maritime shops. The owner was very nice and responsive when I had to communicate issues/questions. On the down side, perhaps because we were there at the end of the season, we just had several maintenance issues (i.e. bikes and electrical breakers), a few missing items (i.e. beach towels and laundry detergent) that contributed to my three star rating. I was also very disappointed in the kitchen. For a house that can accommodate 6 adults, it was poorly equipped (and poorly lit) so if you're planning to do your own cooking - you probably want to pack bigger pots and pans as well as a sharp knife or two. When we arrived the only key in the lock box was for the golf cart. Luckily, we found a house key in the unlocked garage and were able to get in. Seems to me that the maintenance/cleaning staff should have checked things like this. As I said in the beginning, it's a very nice little cottage and if it wasn't for a bunch of easily addressed "attention to detail" & maintenance issues, this would have been a much more positive review.

Fun for the whole family

Bald Head is a truly special place and this house is a great place to enjoy all the peace, tranquility and ocean breezes the island has to offer. It was a great layout for our group the teens were able to spend time on their own in the crofter and the suite downstairs and venture upstairs for shared family meals, game night and dessert. The owners were very responsive when we had any questions and really went above and beyond to make sure we had enough beach towels and to help us with the house bikes. Truly one of the best vacations we have ever taken.

Perfect BHI home

Great stay!

Great communication with the owner. Very clean, comfortable beds. No complaints at all about the home! I ONLY took off one star for location because we typically stay on the beach and this home is located in the woods a bit so it's more of a tree house type feel. Just a matter of personal preference. But the decor is beachy and you're literally a two minute ride from the east AND the south beaches. One minute ride to Mike's Bites was handy too! Nice little selection of games and puzzles for the kids/teens and we made some great memories and got some nice pictures with the stand up paddle board. Nice beach chairs too. Kitchen decently appointed. It really was a great week. Thanks Chrissie!!

My family and I very much enjoyed our stay at Fish n Chips! The property is beautiful! Modern and clean with every convenience. It was our first time staying at that end of the island and we loved how close it was to shopping and restaurants. The guest cottage was very well appointed and we also loved having an outdoor shower. I would highly recommend this property.

Annual family vacation to BHI

Our family of four take an annual trip to BHI each summer. Overall we were very happy with the house. The communication with the owner / pm was fantastic, she was very responsive and helpful. The house was a perfect amount of space for my wife and I, and our two young kids. My mother also joined us for a few nights, and the separate guest cottage was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and a few meals, and connected with the family room, comfortable space for all to eat, drink and relax. The outside deck space was nice, unfortunately we didn’t use much of it due to the heat and humidity the week of our visit. I’d imagine this would be a nice space to enjoy in some cooler weather. There was an outdoor shower which was very useful as well coming back from the beach or pool. The house came with Shoals Club access, which we used. Overall it was okay, other homes we’ve rented on the island had access to the BHI club, which we prefer a bit more due to more kid friendly pool areas. The provided 6 seater golf cart was comfortable and reliable, no issues at all. The neighborhood was quite and set back a bit. We opted for this type of home this year vs being on the ocean like last year to experience a different type of rental location. Both have their pros and cons, but I’m sure we’d rent in a similar location again. Overall we very much enjoyed the trip and would recommend this house!

Great for a family vacation!

The home is charming, clean and updated - a nice spacious kitchen with all the necessities and is comfortable for sleeping - owner is wonderful with communication and helpful with any needs that you may require.
