Great value

One night stay to break up our journey. Setting was lovely in the outskirts of the town surrounded by beautiful countryside. Room was small but clean and comfortable with tea and coffee avaliable. Great restaurant with a good selection of meals. Service was very good. Very surprised at the quality if the breakfast which was excellent and we felt the stay was great value for money.

Our stay at the Old Stone Trough was really nice. Comfy bed, beautifully clean, delicious food and friendly staff, couldn't fault any of it. Well done.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was cosy and service friendly and efficient. Food delicious and well priced. The breakfast was excellent if choice a little limited. The room was a little tired particularly the bathroom and bedding wasn't the best but for the price this could all be overlooked. Excellent budget hotel. Would stay again.

Late overnight booking. Small bedroom and snug/tired bathroom. Good restaurant, service and bar. Bit disappointed on breakfast as, to my mind, somewhat limited choice. All staff friendly. Slight negatives far outweighed by the convenience of on-site bar and restaurant (with significant choices), so would definitely be prepared to stay agin.

Great staff

The hotel is beautifully situated and has a welcoming atmosphere. There were some comfort issues. The radiator, on maximum was barely tepid and the shower was just about warm enough, again on full. The room next to us decided to have a party, which showed up the thin walls. I think that we were just unlucky, as once they'd stopped we didn't hear another peep for the rest of our stay. The evening meal was excellent, but by far the best thing about The Old Stone Trough is its staff. Every one was welcoming and warm from beginning to end.

Breakfast Dia

Breakfast awful, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, beans and tinned plum tomatoes, first night breakfast was queuing due to people waiting for eggs and bacon to be cooked and brought out. Second day no beans and no tomatoes, the staff was talking to themselves it had to take my wife to tell them there is no beans and tomatoes thus creating more queues. This is my third visit and will not be returning here about.
