This hotel is not handicap accessible. I sent a message that my 91 year old mother could not do stairs. What door I was sent to was blocked off do the parking lot resealing. Doesn’t matter I found door #2 STAIRS!! You couldn’t drive to front door? And when you do get to the front door the ramp in side has a lip when you turn the walker that will trip you. Bathroom has mold in shower and chaulking so thick and dirty around the bottom of the shower. The staff is friendly. But don’t go if you have anyone with mobility issues.

Thankful for This Last Minute Accommodation

The parking situation, the 2nd through 3rd night we stayed was bad, especially if returning to the hotel in the evening. Granted, there was construction being done but when dealing with a parent with mobility issues it added extra strain. The staff was nice but since their parking lot is already small and obtuse in its design it seems someone would have thought to work in smaller sections, rather than blocking off whole sides of the building to accommodate guests. The location was great, I appreciated the dog accommodation and the staff was professional.

The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a busy (Thanksgiving) weekend. I noticed that there didn’t seem to be many staff around. Unfortunately the breakfast was lacking. It is billed as a full breakfast. It was more than continental, but not by much. Supplies like syrup, butter and creamers were not there, and had to be asked for. The bread and pastries were stale, as was the cut fruit salad. They should not have been put out for service. Pieces were old, and it was not appetizing at all. At the time, there was no one available to tell, unfortunately, as they were likely busy elsewhere. It didn’t ruin the stay, but it was a disappointing way to end it.

The room was clean and the mattress seemed pretty new. The parking lot was cramped, we had a hard time finding a spot. Breakfast was disappointing - the scrambled eggs were those pre-formed pucks. There was no ketchup, and the waffle batter was weird. I would theoretically stay again but it wouldn’t be a first choice.

We had a great stay at the Comfort Inn on Essa while attending a wedding at Horseshoe Valley. The front desk staff were very polite, friendly and professional. Check in was super easy and the property was well maintained. Our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and we had no complaints. We would definitely stay again if visiting the Barrie area. A lot of amenities near by and the included breakfast was all we needed to start the day. The coffee in the room was great and toiletries were good quality.
