I had an okay stay at the Barrie Days Inn by Wyndham. I travel a lot for work, and the public areas of this location were well taken care of considering the weather. I would say that I wasn’t a huge fan of the hours for the included breakfast as finishing at 9am is earlier than most hotels I’ve stayed at recently that included breakfast (but that’s really a small issue). My room seemed decently maintained and clean upon first glance, but there were actually a few issues that were a nuisance during my stay. The knob for the fan on the heater was broken, which meant I couldn’t turn the fan off, so the room was cooler than I would’ve liked throughout my stay. I notified the front desk about this issue, which they confirmed a previous visitor had also mentioned (but had yet to be fixed). Also, the coffee table in my room had a partially broken leg and one of the edges was partially broken. This hotel’s location was great, but some of the above issues were not.

There was mold in the bathroom, the window coverings had a broken track and holes in the fabric, the tv remote was broken and had to be replaced twice, empty alcohol bottles in the pool area the hot tub produced a brown foamy scum when the jets were turned on

I’ve stayed at all the hotels on that street and I think it’s in an inconvenience area. That street is an industrial business place with car shops, garage’s and more. Can’t do any sit seeing have to take a bus witch might take you an hr or cab or rent a car or drive your own in city traffic. I think the building could use an upgrade or uplift to it.

Checked in and opened the door to my room and found dresser drawyer wide open. Bedding looked like it was not fresh sheets and just bed remade. There was long black hairs in between the sheets and the comforter and towels. There was large toothpaste droppings visble on the bathroom counter as if it was not wiped down. There was a used bar of soup sitting in the shower. Not sure if it was just a bad housekeeper but not the best experience. The exterior of the building seemed to be dark and run down. Theres a best western next door that seemed to be the place to book.

We are here for only 1 night, everything has been fine though. Clean rooms, big enough, we couldn't find a way to increase the heat though and the room was a bit chilly when we got here. The only real complaint I have is about the lumpy pillows. They are terribly ubco

The property has not shovelled the walkways or properly plowed the parking lot. They also ran my credit card the morning before check in for the full amount of the stay. This was done without asking or warning. Completely unacceptable for a property charging $320 per night. Not very happy with this hotel at all and will not be staying at this location again. I attempted to bring up my concerns at the front desk and was basically told sorry but there’s nothing I can do for you.

Room was relatively clean, but not well maintained. One mattress had 3 or 4 inch depression in it, bathroom had about 2.5 foot strip of baseboard trip missing, door didn’t fit well and needed a firm push to close, ceilings had peeling paint, paint worn/flaked off on doors… that kind of stuff. The room had been renovated within the last few years and the carpet/tile looked to be in pretty good condition and the heater worked well and quietly on a cold February night. Staff very polite and breakfast was decent, including eggs and sausage. I would say you get what you pay for, but the room wasn’t particularly cheap. I stayed at the Monte Carlo next door last year and it was a much better option for a competitive price.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely renovated the hotel is. Well done. Breakfast needs improvement though. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Felt like a good 4star hotel. Will definitely stay again.
