I really enjoyed the staff and the complementary snacks and water bottle daily. I felt safe with the easy access to the Bath Spa station. Rob the bartender was amazing and so was the reception recommending restaurants and high points to see in Bath.

The staff were really helpful and accommodating and made us feel very welcome.
We booked a triple room for the two of us as it was cheaper than a double and the photos showed a lovely big modern looking bathroom with a bathtub. Unfortunately, the room was tired, creaky and had a musty smell and we had a very small bathroom with shower, no bath. Nowhere to put your toiletries or hang towels and a tiny mirror.
We understand now in the room description it states shower but the photos are very misleading and it seems taken from the Superior category.
We called reception to enquire if there was another room available and very quickly received a bad attitude from the manager. All that was needed was a polite apology, no other rooms available sir, but instead we were told you're wrong, the photos aren't misleading. We're telling you, as the customer, the photos are misleading. End of.
Luckily another member of staff at reception was very friendly and kind to us and made up for the rude attitude we received from the manager.
We will 100% come back to Bath but we won't be coming back to this hotel since value for money just wasn't there for the room that we received.
I was very pleased with the roomI had booked. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. A tiny drawback was limited hot water from the wash basin. However the building is an old one and there was a notice advising if the hotel was busy I may have to wait a short time for hot water so I did not mind this. A shower next morning was great. Breakfast was good too.
The gentleman on Reception was excellent, informative and extremely hee Royal when I return to Bath in the future. Thank you.
It is a lovely hotel and we've stayed before. We had booked a four poster room but didn't get the same quality of room we had gotten in our first visit, by that I mean; there was no bathtub, the room was slightly smaller, the noise from outside was significantly louder than expected.
We had a lovely stay though and I definitely recommend it.

The main reason for ranking this hotel so low is due to the building and elements of hotel that are simply below standard.
The bed is awful. The shower is terrible.
The hotel just needs a good level of maintenance carried out on it to make it better.
I have had better facilities camping.
Shower was cold, bed terrible…. Didn’t expect this from what looks to be a very nice hotel.
We still had a lovely time but these things need improvement.

Tried hard to like the Royal. Service in all areas was excellent. The location across from the train station is great. Breakfast was very good. But the facility is very old and tired badly in need of an update and refurbishment. At least a deep cleaning and painting. I get that it is an old historic building. But the lack of hot water in the morning is a show stopper. Top tip. If you go shower in the evening when there is hot water. ( On our last day, there literally was no hot water as the boiler broke down)
