Left the hotel 10 min after checking in

After a night flight I arrived at the hotel at around 11h. I was first told my room would be ready at 15h. I explained I had to leave at 16h to attend a wedding ceremony and would love to be able to have a room earlier to rest. Despite the fact that people were queuing to check out, I was told that it was a big hotel and nothing could be done. At the best they would call me if the person using the room a was given would check out. I just took my luggage and went to another hotel nearby. end of the story.

Lovely Hotel

Stayed for 3 nights had a lovely superior room (215), it had little more space a seating area even a full length mirror in a small hallway that had bathroom off it then into main bedroom. The location at night is also good for bars & very good Large variety of reasonably priced restaurants and handy for the transport links. It is a little bit out of town so good to get a grip of the trains etc., otherwise you have a fair walk to the main attractions. Hotel staff very friendly and pleasant we didn't have breakfast at hotel or eat in the restaurant . The in room coffee machine is maybe a nice touch for some, but found it a bit of a pain and noisy, not being a regular coffee drinker and a 'Brit', would have preferred a kettle. Some of the reviews saying it needed a re-furb but I didn't see any signs of tired decor it is kept nicely to character.

perfect base for exploring this great city

A warm and efficient welcome. Spacious comfortable room and lovely evocative decor. Its been a pleasure to stay at the savoy.

Not for non-smokers!!

This hotel was in a great location, the staff friendly and all spoke very good English and the bedrooms large with a wonderful newly fitted bathroom. HOWEVER the wonderful bar we read about, which sells Cuban cigars in the shop located within, is also a smoking lounge! I thought I had missed this but when I looked at the review on return it mentions nothing about it being a smoking bar. If you are a smoker then great but for non-smokers, quite frankly the place stunk and stale cigar smoke is not good. Even our bedroom was a smoking room so you had the lingering smell. The hotel has very few non-smoking rooms on the top floor. We met up with my brother and family here and we had to sit in the foyer to have a nightcap, not brilliant, hardly cosy as is was chilly from the main door opening and closing. Please don't think I'm just wringing here, the hotel has many plus sides and if you smoke then great, my main gripe as it was never advertised as such and if you are a non-smoker then this is a big deal.

Very highly recommended

Hotel to the very best standard of German hospitality, easy walking distance to public transport, clean comfortable rooms, and polite helpful staff, only down side for me was that it allows smoking in rooms and the bar area, not a place for none smokers,
