I stayed at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport (21–22 August 2025) and was very disappointed. The room was dirty, smelled strongly of mildew, and the carpet and furniture were stained. On the second day, even though I asked only for fresh towels, staff entered my room, cleaned it without permission, and opened my closed suitcase. My personal items were removed from my bed, repacked into the suitcase, and then the suitcase was placed on the dirty, disgusting floor. They even mixed my hygiene items with food snacks.
Although I called the hotel the morning of my flight and asked about the shuttle service, I was assured that even though my plane did not arrive until after 10 at night, I could just call the hotel and they would send the shuttle to pick me up. When I called, I was advised that the shuttle driver had left early that day. When I complained, I was told that the shuttle service is complimentary and they were under no obligation to pick me up. This is unacceptable.
I felt violated and disrespected, and I strongly do not recommend this hotel. The only saving grace was that the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and respectful, especially Kira, who checked me in when I arrived and checked me out at the end of my stay.
