Very Dirty and Unclean

Booked two rooms. Both rooms were very dirty and had a moldy smell. Carpet and walls were stained everywhere. One room had a shower that leaked all over the bathroom floor and in the other room the bathroom door handle was broken off. We were very surprised seeing as how this hotel is in a nice area.

My recent stay at Hyatt Place in Birmingham, Alabama, was not only disappointing it was disheartening. From the moment I checked in, I felt unheard and overlooked. After checking into my room, I immidiately raised concerns about the air conditioning unit in my room, which roared as loudly as a lawnmower making restful sleep impossible for a light sleeper like myself. Though I voiced this concern multiple times, no real effort was made to resolve it. The toilet was leaking, the room appeared unkempt, and the bedding was visibly dingy and creased. Over five nights, the cleaning staff never once serviced the room; on the final day, they simply dropped towels at the door without stepping inside. Despite repeated pleas, management remained distant and dismissive. At one point, they claimed to have arranged a reservation for me at another hotel, encouraging me to move. But when I arrived, that hotel had no record of any booking—leaving me embarrassed and stranded. Not once did anyone from Hyatt offer a written note, a clear resolution, or even a basic gesture of care. What was supposed to be a peaceful and comfortable stay turned into a stressful sleep diprived and lonely ordeal. As a guest, I expected hospitality; what I received was indifference. I hope no one else has to go through what I did. I have video of the loud noise from the AC that I shared with the hotel staff that eventhough care less.

This hotel should not have been a full price hotel under the name Hyatt. More like a cheap roadside motel. It was dilapidated and things were falling apart. Pictures hanging crooked, walls and baseboards beat up, carpet being pulled up in the room. Everything was very unkempt and dirty. There were hairs all over our beds, the faucet sprayed like a splash pad when you turned it on, and the whole hotel just felt like it hadn’t been touched or improved upon in 30 years. Would absolutely not stay again.

It was pretty worn and not very clean. The bathroom smelled like pee and there was a dead bug in the picture frame. When we pulled out the sleeper sofa for our kids it was COVERED in crumbs. We didn’t have any linens for the sleeper sofa so we had to go ask, which isn’t a big deal but the wait for the linens was a long time. It was just hard to relax because of how worn down and kind of dirty the room was. Also the room we originally booked wasn’t available, and the family we were traveling with also didn’t get the room they reserved. All in all we were just disappointed with the stay and won’t stay there again.

Good but not great.

The staff was friendly and efficient. There was no air on in the lobby, which was unpleasant. The first room given to us had not been cleaned. The staff acted quickly and moved us to a new room. The air conditioning made a weird noise but kept the room cold.

Disappointed

The condition of this hotel is not good. It’s like there is no maintenance staff. So many small things that have not been taken care of in a long time. One of the things being the ice machines- none of them worked. When we told the front desk, the worker just shrugged. The major items in the room were clean-bed linens, bathtub, sink, but there were stains on the couch, some on the walls, inside the toilet. I would definitely never stay here again.

Dirty and exhausted

My family and I arrived and was met with a kind clerk. Check in went well. Got to the room and after a few minutes we discovered wet used towels in the bathroom. The bath faucet was broken. There were stains and hair all over the carpet and on the bedding. We were exhausted after a 10 1/2 hour drive and was the last thing we were expecting to have to deal with. Went to the lobby and the clerk gave us another room. Was a little cleaner and no dirty towels. The water pressure in the shower was not much more than a spit. Overall we were very disappointed in the hotel. I don’t think I will stay at another Hyatt Place. Other than the employees there wasn’t much I would recommend to anyone.
