From private, luxury ensuite bathrooms (no one has to share) to impressive views, each room at the Blue Heron retreat is loaded with features to help make your stay on Prince Edward Island your favorite vacation ever. More than big enough to host multiple families or couples, the Blue Heron Retreat goes the extra mile at every turn. If a private getaway for just 2, or one family is all you seek, you can be rest assured that the house is also perfect! You will always have the entire house to yourself.
Boasting 5 + 1 bedrooms and 6 Bathrooms, The Blue Heron Retreat is a stately home whose origin extends over 140 years. It has recently undergone complete reconstruction and renovation to include modern amenities and appointments throughout. The building was renovated and remodeled to operate as a five star B&B from 2007 to 2013. It has become a fully modern and luxurious retreat from the stress and daily concerns of a busy world to the easy pace of life and the sanctuary of The Gentle Island - Prince Edward Island.

Maybe your favorite experience will be relaxing in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Ocean and Confederation Bridge. Or it could be exploring the tidal pools on the red sand beach. Perhaps you will fall in love with watching the sunset over the ocean. Your favorite part may be coming home to the super comfortable beds and cozy bathrobes at the end of a long day exploring Prince Edward Island. Everyone who visits the Blue Heron Retreat discovers their own favorite experience during their stay.
- If you like to cook, you'll love the 3 ovens (including one steam oven), HUGE side-by-side fridge and freezer, outdoor bbq always with an extra tank of propane, wine rack to store your libations, large double sink, dishwasher, and a large walk-in pantry with every kind of cooking pot, pan, utility, bowl, etc that you could possibly need.

Relaxing stay

My family and I had a relaxing stay at this peaceful beach house. The pictures do not do justice to how gorgeous the location is, and the house had everything we needed. It was spacious and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Superb property and location

My family of 12 including adults and grandchildren had a marvellous vacation. The location is perfect near to the beach with the shallow water. Great for toddlers. The property was the best ever that our family has rented. Sheldon was always available to help with questions. The house was immaculate upon arrival. It was stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay. We plan to return. Many thanks for a perfect family vacation.

Summer multi-family vacation

This is our second trip to PEI, but our first at this property. We had 4 kids under 13 and 6 adults. The bedrooms with separate baths gave all of us so much space. The large kitchen with large fridge and freezer allowed plenty of space for food. The basement area was perfect to allow the kids there own zone to hang out in. The back deck was a common hang out throughout the day and we spent time in the hot tub after the kids were asleep to unwind before bed. The house and view are amazing enough to want to return, but the beach just puts this place over the top. Even at high tide there is plenty of beach to enjoy. Low tide brought hours of exploration, paddleboarding, skim boarding, kayaking, sand castles! The kids made there own dirt shirts on the beach, and found hermit crabs and sand dollars too! The house is in close proximity to everything we needed. 8 of us went deep sea fishing towards Cavendish while 2 went shopping in Charlottetown. We explored summerside and Victoria, enjoyed a nice toy shop with a wood toy maker shop out back, and would recommend everyone go to provisions for homemade jam, breakfast, a garden walk to see the farm animals and butterfly house. Clearly we all had a wonderful vacation! The owner of the house is always available although rarely needed! This is my new preferred spot on the island!

An exquisite property in a wonderful location, every amenity catered for, the house was spotless and ready for us on arrival. All instructions provided to operate the systems. Could not have been happier! The tides cooperated and provided hours of walking and clam digging. Just could not have been more pleased.

Perfect girls weekend

So enjoyed our stay at Blue Heron retreat. Beginning with the check in with Kathy who could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Communication with our host was easy and very responsive. This vacation home is spotless, with every amenity you could ask for. It was the perfect location to explore the eastern part of the province.

Beautiful..... Roomy.... and a Perfect Holiday House

This property was perfect for our holiday getaway with our siblings and their spouses. It was beautiful, very roomy and an excellent house for us since each bedroom has its own bathroom. Each couple had their own privacy and the large living areas inside and out were great for dinners together, relaxation, conversation and games. Catherine was there to meet and greet us with a tour of the house and answered any questions we had. Leon was available to answer and act on questions we had as well. We had a wonderful week !!

Incredible

This is an excellent rental. It is a beautiful house that is perfectly maintained. The view and location are perfect. It was the perfect size to house 3 families. Everyone had space and privacy which made things so relaxing. Leon was there to greet us upon arrival and explained how everything worked which made our stay problem-free. Later in the week he dropped by with an ice cream cake which was huge hit, especially with the 5 kids in our group. Thanks so much for the incredible vacation!

Whole group loved it!

Everyone in our group commented on how great the accommodations at Blue Heron Retreat were. Having private bathrooms for each room was very helpful. People were also big fans of the hot tub with a view of the ocean at sunset. The kitchen is well set up for a large group to work in at once. Our hosts were very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Fantastic Place to Stay!

The large kitchen, dining and living areas and a bathroom for each bedroom made it very easy for all of us to fully enjoy and entertain our family and friends. Of course the ocean views and beach are an added bonus to being at this location in tranquil Cape Traverse.

A great beachfront paradise retreat

We had a great time. The hosts were great, and sent us some great tips to enjoy the local area. Hot-tubbing watching the sunset was the best. Take a road trip to Victoria by the sea. Great spot. 100% worth it.

Beautiful house, location & hosts

We were greeted by one of the owners who took time to explain details of house & how to contact her(them) if we needed to. We had 10 adults and two 3 year olds in our party. Plenty of room for everyone and the yard was huge for burning off extra energy. Hot Tub was definitely appreciated & loved by most of the adults after long days being tourists! Small draw back was the bedroom by the kitchen was not very sound proof but we worked around it. The beach was just around the corner within a very easy walk and able to spend hours wading in warm pools after tide went out or could swim in ocean if you wanted & kids had so much fun finding hermit crabs ( all released back with no injury to animal or human :) ) and building sand castles! Easy drive to Summerside for shopping & not far from Charlottown or Cavendish either. Highly recommend this house for your next PEI getaway. We will be keeping contact info for our next vacation in PEI!!! Thank you Kathy & Leon

Much better than expected

We were a group of 9 adults and 1 child. We throughly enjoyed our stay and really appreciated the idea of having a bedroom with attached bathroom available for each couple. There was easy access to the beach which we walked everyday at low tide. One couple actually went swimming one day ...amazing for Sept. The kitchen was well layed out for multiple cooks and very well equiped. This is thr 3rd cottage that I have rented for a family vacations and this one is by far the best todate. Lorne and Cathy were quick to respond to all of our questions/concerns and were very helpful. Thanks once agian Cathy for the Homemade Wild Blueberry Pie and Ice Cream. What a lovely touch! Fantastic family vacation

We were a group of 13 - four families celebrating a 50 th wedding anniversary.The group ranged in age from 20 months to 75 years. The home easily accommodated all of us. The location is perfect with a lovely beach literally across the street. All the amenities you could want and Kathy was the perfect hostess. The peach cobbler was awesome! Thank you. The only suggestion would be perhaps a picnic table or such for eating outside during the day. Hope to return again, thank you so much!!!

Absolutely splendid!

What a treasure! This home is beautiful, well-appointed, modern, clean and spacious. We were three generations (6 adults and 1 toddler) staying for a week and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location is a peaceful haven, with spectacular views and a stone's throw from the beach. Fun to wander out at low-tide! The hot tub, kites, bike, kayaks, pinball machine and sand toys all helped to make our week extra fun. Can't say enough about how wonderful it was and also how great Kathy, the caretaker is about ensuring you have everything you need. The week went by far too quickly, hopefully we can return someday!

Everything we needed

The Blue Heron retreat has all we needed and more for 6 adults and 4 children. It was our second summer there. The kids love crab hunting in the low tide pools! The Island has so much to do you're going to want to stay longer!

The property was perfect for a group of eight ladies on a golf vacation. Beautiful setting.

We were made to feel very welcome by Leonand his mom, and they were in attendance to ensure that any little issues were remedied immediately. A welcoming tin of delicious cookies and provision of a yummy rhubarb crisp to complement one of our cook-in dinners were lovely surprises. The home is very modern, clean and spacious, fully equipped in the kitchen for meal prep. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after golf. The only bed that wasn't comfortable was the pull out in the den, and I believe they are looking to improve that. I hope to return one day, and highly recommend this facility to anyone who wants a real home while visiting PEI. Thanks Leon and Kathy!

Beautiful house, perfect location...just pack a suitcase and get to the Blue Heron!!!
