Good value stay

The Old Ship is an amazing history hotel. It's olde worlde and full of quirky charme. It's central and seafront based so that's always a plus . I slept peacefully and loved my retro room. Yes, it's worn looking but for the price, it's great. I'd return to this hotel as it's warm and safe.

The best of Brighton

This is my favourite hotel and if could take it to where I am staying I would! The bed is the most comfortable I have had. We stay in the same disabled access room and it is just right. The wet room bathroom is good a bit tired but ok. Having stayed twice in 2 weeks I noticed this is the one place we return to that I know I am going to relax and sleep well in. Great location on the seafront but also a five minute walk into the heart of Brighton shopping and food. 2 minutes from the Brighton centre and an easy stroll to the Dome and Palace theatre. What more could you want

Could do with some updating and maintenance work. Quite shabby in places. Pricey for condition of the hotel. Breakfast was good but had to pay for it. Not one I would choose to stay at again, not for that price anyway.

The hotel has charm and history. The front patio was wonderful to read or enjoy a drink. The area around the hotel had lots of litter

Great location but parking is problematic.

This is a good location but quite noisy at night and difficult to get to when you have a car. The only option we found available for parking cost us 42 pounds for the overnight stay (42pounds for 24 hours). Breakfast was excellent with good choices.

Expect the early morning call

This is a lovely quirky old hotel. A bit faded and tatty (the lifts!) but I like it, and it's in a marvellous spot. On the sea front, view of the pier. My room was lovely too. But please, please, fix the fire alarms. I've stayed at the Ship over a number of years and been turfed out of bed probably four times by the fire alarm. I guess better safe than sorry, but it would be nice to have the option of sleeping in.

It’s brilliantly situated for The Lanes Car Park, the sea front and the Pier A minutes walk and you are in the heart of the lanes. The hotel is cheap but a bit past its best and you can’t have everything! The ladies on the front desk were superb. Well done ladies you could not have been any more welcoming and friendly

Seaside chill.

I had my room upgraded to a seaview room free of charge, which was always going to land well. This is a tidy and chilled out beachfront hotel that's well worth your time booking.

A step back in time

This hotel is a wonderful experience of a bygone era. I loved the old world feel as I stepped through the wooden entrance. The wood panelling was marvellous, along with historical photos which dotted the walls. The rooms were large amd warm, beds super comfortable, and housekeeping regular. Cleanliness: it was clean and fresh, but as a fussy cleaner- there were finger marks on the inside window and dust behind the bathroom door. Front of house: this was my first time and staff did not sell it- I found out about the gym by wondering around, I wasn't told about breakfast, neither about the tours the hotel runs.

Shabby tired not worth the price of £300 for 2 nig

Booked deluxe seaview room, room very shabby tired shower curtain a big no no dripping tap & late night noise with loud people sitting outside talking at 4am! Asked them to move spoke with manager ; suggested to remove chairs so know one can sit there in the early hours! He took on board our complaint but did nothing abit it! Shocking hotel parking fees £54 for two nights last stay there, we stayed afurther night & checked into the Queens hotel so much better!
