Let down by a usually good hotel

We usually have a great experience at Moxy but this time there was a complete refurb happening outside the hotel with builders walking out side our window at 8am on Saturday morning. This was not mentioned on the hotels.com website. Also the bathroom smelt mouldy and was a really stale smell. Not very pleasant.

I'd stayed here the week before and had a great time but this time I experienced a few problems. The room was great, breakfast was great but the toilet didn't flush when I arrived. I reported this and was told they would try and fix it but move me to a different room if not. Unfortunately I had to report this 3 days in a row before they checked the toilet to confirm it was broken. The manager moved me to a new room straight away, which I appreciated. Sadly this room was next to the building works so was extremely noisy from the drilling, etc.

The hotel is undergoing major External construction works, which we were not told about before our stay. The whole building is surrounded by scaffolding, so you cannot have your curtains open. The work began before 0830 on Monday morning, loud construction work. I would have thought they would have warned us about this; it had a very negative impact on our stay. The staff were lovely and the room condition was excellent but these construction works were major and we should have been warned.

The choices of food and drinks at the bar were limited or run out, i ordered food and when it arrived if was dumped on the tablet, then had to go and ask for cutlery. I received a free drink on arrival house cocktail that could not be swapped for beer.

Loved the stay at The Moxy. Very helpful employees, great service and the breakfast should not be missed, its very good. Clean, comfortable bedroom and shower is good.

A great stay.

A great stay - comfy, stylish room, tidy and very clean (apart from a slightly discolored sink). Great breakfast, with a really good selection and efficient, friendly service throughout the stay. Liked touches like maple syrup dispenser - far less single us plastic than a normal hotel breakfast. Family room was great, as our daughter had her own space. Very much recommended.

Second stay at the Moxy - excellent location, dog friendly, good sized room, friendly helpful staff and yummy breakfast. Value for money. A great place to stay⭐️ Car parking at Cabot Circus is discounted - just get your ticket scanned at Reception.
