An easy walk from the Buxton Highway 12 shops and restaurants, this top-floor, Cottage Avenue Duplex home has a shared pool, two bedrooms, and is super-close to the beach and ocean. You'll enjoy the semi-oceanfront location, the central AC, the full kitchen, the bedrooms, and the bath when you want to come to the beach to enjoy all that it has to offer. Need a little extra space for your friends or extended family? You can rent Cape Bottom which occupies the same building as a separate unit with its own entrance. Don't forget: this home welcomes up to four dogs, so every family member can come along! Whether you're here for three nights or three weeks, you'll enjoy the beach life with Cape Top.

We enjoyed our stay in thos house, but it was short lived due to the houses collapsing in Buxton. Vacasa did move us to a safer location. We had a decent view from the porch and after rhe houses fell, it truly became ocean front. This house waa great for a small family.

Communication from the arrival date hit rock bottom. Emails were hours late. Our door code would not work so we got in the room over an hour late after being refused early check in. We received a new code and early access for 4pm the next day. Then maintenance who were sincerely trying to help got us in the wrong unit because like us they didn’t realize there was two units. We figured it out when we went to dinner and came back to two other people in the same unit as us. We thought everything was straightened out until we left and got a call from housekeeping saying we forgot our stuff. We had already checked out with our things. Housekeeping was in the wrong unit. No communication. Too much chaos.

A place by the beach

The road to the place is a little bumpy but our son’s Prius made it through, just go slow. The unit we rented was on the top floor. So this isn’t exactly a house but more like a condo. The fridge door was missing a handle and looked like it had been hastily painted. We sent a text to management so they knew it wasn’t us. The place was smaller than I expected but the 5 of us did manage to fit into the unit. Just a note on the area, the nearest ER is an hour away in Nags Head. We had to make an unexpected trip. Something to think about if you have medical concerns.

The property was not checked before we arrived. Had it been they’d have known that the door code didn’t work and THE ONLY STREET TO THE PROPERTY WAS UNSAFE AND UNPASSABLE. We didn’t know how deep the water was, because the street looked level, but it wasn’t. We made it to the property and were stranded there until the water receded enough to safely exit.

Great dog friendly beachfront property!

We love traveling with our dogs when possible - this quaint little beachfront condo was great! Everything was a bit older and the condo itself a tad rundown, (water damage in ceiling, fridge is missing a handle, furniture and overall decor is outdated) but honestly it’s to be expected with this location being RIGHT on the ocean. The weather is hard on these properties and being a vacation rental isn’t easy on them either (also add in the fact that they allow dogs - which we are so thankful for)! The price you pay is absolutely for the location - you’re so close to the sand the property’s foundation IS sand. We didn’t even wear shoes to walk down to the water. Our dogs absolutely loved being able to take walks on the beach and because OBX is so dog friendly, you’re allowed to have your pups on the sand all day long -so long as they are leashed. We loved this little property for the location and ease of being able to cook meals right there instead of having to venture out or microwave everything. Rated 4 stars because it’s a bit rundown, but in my opinion, it’s worth the price and we’d stay here again!

Great location for the price

Great location just off the beach. The accommodations were nice, but when we arrived there were a couple problems with roof leaks that caused a couple minor drywall/paint issues. The issues were so minor, they did not interrupt our stay. Other than that, place was great.

Nice place just off the beach

This apartment is just off the beach. Nice location and very quiet. We were on the top floor of a 2 floor duplex which made unpacking a little challenging but the place was spacious enough for our family of 4. Brought 2 dogs with us who enjoyed the beach. Very pet friendly. The only cautions I would give is that this particular location is on a road that floods when it rains. Not a problem for our truck, but might be for a smaller vehicle. And while it is only a mile from the Cape Hatterus Lighthouse, it is an hour to Nags Head. There’s a kitchen and they provide all cooking utensils, but if you plan to go out a lot, there’s not much in Buxton or Avon. The Avon pier provides some nice fishing and there’s a lot of surf fishing. Nice quiet family location.
