The hotel was nicer than I expected. Pool was nice. Rooms were nice. However the thermostat in the room does nothing but turn on a fan. No heat no cooling. We were on the 8th floor and the tram on the street sounded like a plane landing every 10min. The area around the hotel is full of homeless drug addicts.

The hotel is new, clean and modern. The room was spacious and clean. All of the amenities were good. The neighborhood has some issues, common to all urban centres but we never felt unsafe. Transportation was right there and the tourist areas were within walking distance. Great value.

Room was immaculate. Not small, but on the smaller side. Blackout blinds actually work. Moxie’s downstairs for breakfast and dinner while watching the game - food delicious. Atmosphere excellent.

We recently stayed at the Sandman and booked two rooms. Unfortunately, one of the rooms had a major issue because the air conditioning was not working. Although the AC was turned on, the temperature remained at 25°C, it was hot, and there was visible water inside the AC unit. It is obvious that AC is broken. I called the front desk three times but was told that the maintenance staff had already gone home for the night. The lobby staff member I spoke with the first time came to the room to check. He was apologetic and asked us to observe the situation and call again in an hour. It was extremely hot. I called again at 11pm, the staff member I spoke with the second time was dismissive and rude. She simply said that nothing could be done because maintenance staff had gone home. It was not until midnight that a security guard came to our room with a small space heater that had a tiny six-inch fan at the back, which was hardly adequate for the situation. This experience was deeply disappointing and far below the standards we expected. We were left extremely uncomfortable throughout the night and dissatisfied with the customer service we received. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their responsiveness and professionalism. It’s not worth what we paid for the room.

An okay hotel right in the heart of Calgary downtown. The room that I got was a bit on the smaller side, which was fine for the short stay. However, the radiator/fan was particularly loud and there didn’t seem to be any air circulation if it was turned off. Not a particularly comfortable stay.
