We booked through Expedia and the check in process was just a nightmare. We waited at the main reception area for about 15 minutes, then the receptionist Luis spent another 10 minutes processing our documents, then told us guests booking from Expedia has to check in at the Diamond club area. He walked us there, looked around seemingly confused, and just told us to sit down. We waited for another 30 minutes, and noticed people coming in later got processed. I then spoke to a staff standing around, explaining the situation, she dismissed us and said "not my department", providing no instructions. We waited for another 10 minutes to speak to another receptionist, then she asked if we gave her our passports. We explained what Luis said, and she seemed annoyed, and told us we needed to give her our passports. And we waited another 20 minutes before we finally sat down with a receptionist. And this guy was just the worst. He made zero eye contact, chatting with another guy the whole time, checking his phone still taking his time. Absolutely chaotic. I understand busy hours could lead to long waits, but it was clear that the staff there don't communicate with each other, and have no idea what the process was, causing additional wait time. I left a negative feedback on the automated email from Expedia, and Victor came to investigate the situation and was very apologetic. There was nothing to be fixed at that point, but Victor did great making us feel heard.

believe the other bad reviews — it was as bad as people say. we stayed here for a wedding. booked a swim up pool room which was the best option. our friends had the jacuzzi room and they said it was moldy and dirty they didn’t even get in. our tub was dirty, mold every where, the shower was overwhelmingly stinky, found a spider in our bed. not only was the room outdated it was straight up dirty. you can have old things but still keep them clean. we could check out of here fast enough. the workers were also some of the rudest people i’ve encountered at a resort. so much attitude and we watched them repeatedly serve white guests before us. we swam up to the bar and the bartender took orders from 4 white people groups that came after us. stay away unless you love the smell of mildew.

Lots of broken walkways, broken handicap handle at the soaker tub (made me fall backwards), broken headrest on the soaker tub (hit my head). Property is big, food is great.

Overall stay is nice. Room is spacious and has everything we need. Comfortable bed and clean linen. The buffet is great! One of the best buffet. Other restaurants is mediocre at best. Tour booking and excursions are wonderful and we had a blast in our trip. The resort does have a funky smell in certain location. Maybe will stay again.

Our stay here was awesome. It is one of their oldest resorts, which means it is outdated. However it is still very clean. They are searching heavily for buyers into the diamond program to pay for the renovations, so beware of free breakfasts and discounted attractions, it is a sales pitch. Depending on who you are, 30-90 minutes for some discounted perks might be worth it!
