The beach was beautiful, water was a dream. Our room was very clean with a great layout. We enjoyed the robes very much! As a couple who frequent Mexico and many different all inclusive properties approx 3-4 times a year, we were extremely disappointed in staff friendliness with the exception of Freddy at the pool, he was great! I’d like to preface that we are not foodies BUT the food selection was horrible on the buffet and making reservations at the specialty restaurants was not convenient and mostly booked up every night of our stay. Room service was equally bad. The shows were lacking and overall boring. The entertainment crew gave little effort to get guests involved. Only having one bar open at night was pretty annoying because it was in the small lounge with loud drunk people. Until we arrived at the property, I didn’t realize it was a membership property. Only members could sit in certain places, use certain beds, they had their own bar poolside, own waiters, better seating at poolside restaurant, top shelf liquor etc. When I book all inclusive, I expect all inclusive. This was a major turnoff for us. I take the blame for not knowing about the membership but it’s reason enough for us to not come back to Sandos Cancun. On the bright side, the spa was a real highlight! Couples massages were wonderful! As always, we met great people and enjoyed being in Mexico. The Sando’s isn’t awful but it’s not great and we won’t be back. We’re Riu property people for sure!
