Dated and old fashioned, not very inviting musty smelling hallway. Hotel is in need of an upgrade and a lot of TLC. Noisy, could hear guests talking and banging doors during the night. Breakfast not appetising or appealing. Reception staff were helpful and polite and good location.

Great staff, comfortable room, convenient location

We wanted a cheap but clean and comfortable room for an overnight stay to allow us to celebrate a birthday in the family in Cardiff city centre. We were happy to say we got exactly that and enjoyed meeting some of the very nice staff along the way - the gentleman in glasses at reception, the breakfast restaraunt manageress, and the cleaning lady who let us into our room when our key stopped working. They were all so friendly, it was a pleasure to be staying at the Angel. Unfortunately the lifts weren’t working hence the 4/5 marking, but otherwise we enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others.

Whilst appreciating this is only a three star hotel unfortunately the room had a really musty smell to it. I suspect it previously had been a smoking and unfortunately that is not a smell that is removed easily. Neither of the lifts were working and we were on the third floor. There was black mold in the bathroom. The TV did not work and there were batteries missing from the remote control. The whole hotel is tired and needs renovating. However, I would say that the breakfast was nice although it could have been hotter. Unfortunately, we won’t be staying here again.

It is a lovely hotel but none of the lifts were working and we had to go up quite a few stairs to our room. The room was nice and clean but we could have done with a king size bed. The bar had a sigh saying it was open late but when we went to get a drink it was closed 11pm which we didn't think was late

The room was large but dated I know it's an old building but the toilet in room had brown stains, brown stains around edge of bath and taps, look like rust. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and helpful.
