Sonesta Cartegena is a law suit waiting to happen. Imagine being placed in a room without a front door, or having your AC units pour puddles of water from the ceiling, and being unable to control the AC temperature, or turn it on or off because the wall mounted control refuses to work - or having maintenance attempt to fix the AC unit three times in three days - all to no avail. Imagine being dirty and unable to bathe for hours because the staff repeatedly fails to replenish daily linens and takes forever to respond to requests for linens. Or imagine having staff remove your ear-pods from your personal belongings in your room and travel to their home with it. Imagine eating breakfast and not having labels to tell you what your eating to avoid allergic reactions. Or even eating breakfast and seeing an unopened sanitary napkin and trash in the scenic pond next to you. I can say a lot more, but what I will say is that Expedia failed us by rating this a four-star hotel. It was certainly less than that.

Enjoyed the modern room with balcony which was convenient to dry swimsuits overnight, quiet A/C, direct beach access to a huge sandy beach with close proximity to excellent Encolombia kitesurfing and wingfoiling school. Pools are awesome. Taxi to historic city center cost 25K, taxis always available. Friendly staff, clean. Small supermarket and drug store next door.

I don’t like how they don’t explain things to guests till after you check in ! They never mentioned that the fridge in the room was an extra cost. Being a guest you’ll think it’s complimentary. After checking out for 3 nights they gave us a fee or 50 saying we open and ate all the thing's in the fridge. It was 2 guest me and my friend, which is crazy. We were barely in the room. They are very hungry and wanted to argue with us about the price instead of satisfying GUEST they argue. Very unprofessional. We almost missed our flight because they wanted to argue and throw a price at us that we WEREN'T going to pay.

All the staff members are great, very friendly and their service is excellent. The access to the beach is not very nice. The floor halls to access the rooms was is bad condition, there was a door with access to a closet or room and it was not finished, giving a bad impression. The room was excellent, good size, good bed and amenities.
