I was early and was told if I paid $35, i could check in early. This means that the room was available, but I had to wait. I was 2 hours early, so ok. I waited an hour, still $35. I had to wait until after 4 to get my room.
In the room, it was hot. It took a bit to understand that a key card is needed to start the AC. Did that, but I could not change the room temp. It was preset and due to not cooling off enough, i didn't sleep well.
I will not stay here again. The place is set up for a gambler not a traveler. I have stayed in Vegas and Reno. Never have I encountered this. I have been early to check-in at other places and was told my room wasn't cleaned but if I upgraded, a room was available. On that one, I waited, and you could tell the room had just been done.
For Ak Chin, this was not the case. It was just sad. You could tell that there weren't a lot of people staying there. Now, I know why.
