FYI, this hotel is in Dunbar- NOT Charleston (Charleston has their own Super 8). Anyway the check-in staff (shout out to Donna!) was super nice and just what two very tired travellers needed. The hotel is decent and the complimentary breakfast was a pretty good spread. The room itself could use some updates... the carpet was dingy and felt a little moist, the bathroom had some stain/rust wear and tear. Other than that, it was a good room and a fine stay.

Hotel was very clean and the staff we encountered was friendly. Check in and out were very quick and easy. My only complaint is there is no elevator and this was not stated in the property listing so i had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to our room and i have servere knee issues so this was less than ideal. If i had known i could've asked for a first floor room or booked elsewhere. Hotel states it's smoke free but the hallways constantly smelled of cigarettes so if you're sensitive to that i wouldn't stay here. Our room didn't smell but the hallways and stairways did.

Sub-par. I can’t recommend staying here.

I hate to complain, but there are some issues that should be addressed. If our reservation was refundable we would have left and found a different place. First of all, the hotel sign was only partially-lit making it look dumpy and hard to read.The hotel is in an industrial area that didn’t feel very safe and the entrance was in an alley. We walked in through a cloud of smoke as there were people sitting on the front steps smoking within a few feet of the door. No one was at the desk when we arrived, as the attendant was one of those outside on the steps. The issues in the room included a very uncomfortable bed and pillows, one of the lamps wasn’t working, the bathroom sink drained very slowly, and there was a metal part of the bed frame that was sticking out several inches where you could be injured by it. On a more positive note, the staff that we encountered was pleasant enough. Unfortunately everything else indicated that very little care is put into this business.
