Excellent stay but excessive additional charges

Everything was excellent, except £20 for overnight parking, which is excessive and £2.50 per carton of water in the room - most hotels of this quality provide it free of charge.

Poor style over function

Room dominated by the open plan bathroom, poorly placed light switches, no fridge and charging for water. Breakfast was very good with great views.

Does a good job of looking like a nice hotel but in reality is very basic. Next to no phone network coverage in the building and WiFi is absolutely terrible. The tv’s in the rooms are tiny and look about 25 years old, they have very limited channels and most of the buttons on the remote didn’t even work. If you are travelling for work and spending most of the night in your room as I was your in for a long night! The cost of parking is also ridiculous at £20 per night

Hotel was in a great area for what we needed, was disappointed with the dust that was on the side of the bed and under the clear side table. Also the mattress could do with replacing as had a dip in the middle in which I got stuck in resulting in sleeping at a strange angle and aching the next morning. Hotel was fully booked due to races otherwise I’d of asked for a new room due to those issues and the price paid for the room.

An excellent stay at this fabulous hotel. The lovely man in reception upgraded us to a huge room overlooking the racecourse. The room was great and the bed was ginormous! The only issue was the bathroom door handle was dodgy and I was scared of breaking it further. Other than that though we couldn’t fault the stay. Wished we’d ventured up to the rooftop bar earlier as it was beautiful in the evening sun. Cocktails were lovely and on 2 for £16 plus we were given £5 vouchers each for opting out of housekeeping! We parked on the Little Roodee carpark just down the road which was £9 a day and walked into the centre which was a five minute walk. All round excellent stay and we will certainly be back!

Poor cleanliness within the room - some area very dusty, rips/burns in bedding and room needs some TLC (bit worn). Breakfast took over an hour - disorganised, underwhelming and not informed of delays. Raised a complaint with the issues - no response from anyone - followed up by phone - still no response. Offered a refund and not granted what was offered! Should be a standard part of customer service to acknowledge and reply Can stay in better hotels for less vs £200 we were charged!
