The room was a good size and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only had breakfast but it was lovely and lots of choice. Very good value for money and would definitely go back if we were in chester again

I didn't think it was fair to have a trainee working on their own on a busy Saturday afternoon. The showers were shocking in the pool area. I feel it was generally overpriced. The dehumidifier in the pool was incredibly loud. The room didn't offer much in the way of soundproofing. There was not a hairdryer in the room, even asking for one at reception I was not given one. The overall feel of the hotel felt tired, despite probably being cleaned it didn't feel it.

Overall, the hotel is in desperate need of investment. The worst nights sleep ever had!! Due to inconsiderate guests, wafer thin walls, and very poor heating controls. The cleaning standards are something to do addressed, with the very basics, failing miserable. In addition to most staff ,failing to have any sense of urgency in performing there duties. The spa & pool area, requires a complete Overall, with only positive is usage included within the room rate. The restaurant is adequate if you have no desire for anything special, with the breakfast offering, certainly nothing special.

Checked in ok started working at the desk, heard a noise at the door and another male guest lets himself into my room with a key . As a lone solo female traveller it’s not acceptable went down to reception with the guest and got told I had to change rooms. I refused and then got told I could stay put . Hardly any toilet paper had to go to reception twice to request more . Bathroom had a lot of mould. Dinner waited 45 mins from walking in to getting my order. Forgot to bring wine to the table . I never complain about a hotel but I won’t be staying here again

The first room I was given was at the rear of the Hotel, when I found the Wi-Fi wasn't working I was moved to the front of the hotel. This was a mistake as I was kept awake half the night by noise. The first noisy event was not the hotel's fault, but that of some ignorant so-and-so who, at 03:30, couldn't be bothered to get out of their vehicle to let someone know they were there, beeping their horn instead! Technically the second two occurrences weren't the hotel's fault either, but it is something they can do something about. Large dustbins wagons arrived at 04:30 and at 04:50 to empty the refuge bins, with the accompanying reverse warnings sounds and bins being lifted and emptied. The hotel was good value, but the most of the buffet cooked breakfast was over cooked, with the fried eggs being like bullets, and the bacon like leather.

Lovely hotel, stayed for 2 nights as 2 adults and 1 toddler. The staff wers pleasant and helpful from the moment we arrived. Room was clean and had eveyrhing you need. Hotel is in a great location, 10 minute drive to the city centre or 10 minute drive to Chester zoo. Will definitely stay again when next visiting the city

Hotel Mercure went the extra mile to accommodate our need for a ground floor room for our disabled dog. All communications were prompt and courteous, and when we checked on the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. This all helped ease the issues of travelling with a beloved disabled pet and we really appreciated all they did for us. Would definitely recommend them, and definitely stay there again should we return to Chester.
