jess was rude about telling me the elevator was down and had zero compassion. there was a poop in my toilet when i arrived. forced to carry luggage up five flights of stairs and was expected to do that multiple times a day and jess was laughing about the elevator not getting fixed until after my stay. i would never book here again, it was a nightmare. luckily i was able to get a hotel at river hotel which was a thousand times better in customer service, location, and property. the river hotel turned my trip around after sonder ruined my actual birthday. i should've been refunded fully for my whole stay honestly but had to argue with everyone for hoursss so i let it go for the sake of my trip and birthday.

Very good apartment, except the fact that the elevator was not working. However, there is a nigth club close by, so it is difficult to sleep most of the nights until 3:00am, unless you have good earplugs.

This Hotel decided to cancel my reservation hours before my check in time. Wife and I had driven 7 hours from PA to Chicago. I booked this room in February. There were no employees at the hotel to even help me. There is not a front desk or anything , its all done remotely (how convenient!)They also did not approve my refund as they said they would. Hotels.com helped me get in touch with the property but it took multiple days to even be sure i would get any money back. They have an F rating from the better business bureau. Should not be recommended by hotels.com. Do not give this property your money. They do not value guests.

Everyone there should call to make sure they’ve fixed the elevator. We were on the 4th floor go up the stairs with 3 suitcases. We walked up 63 stairs at least 5 times daily. There should have been water at least for the inconvenience. And I only had 2 towels and when I asked for more I was told to use the washing machine, I was on vacation not knowing I’d be washing everyday.

I don’t usually leave hotel ratings, but there were two major issues that made our stay a disappointment- no elevator and no AC. The hotel’s elevator was out of service for our entire stay. We were assigned the 4th floor. Air conditioning didn’t work in our room - it was 77 degrees inside. After one night, they switched our room to the 5th floor. No improvement. This is definitely a common complaint as both rooms were equipped with large oscillating fans. The lack of elevator did become quite annoying as it required us to climb 84 stairs every time we returned to our room. The hotel was very clean, and any staff we encountered were friendly. However, the lack of a working elevator and a functioning AC made this a very disappointing stay.

A fun trip nearly ruined

After booking my stay here for a short getaway to Chicago, I felt confident given previous positive experiences using hotels.com as well as the Marriott Bonvoy brand that I would have a lovely and affordable visit. Not so. Not even close. First, an email received prior to my arrival alerted me that their only elevator wasn't working, in a 5-story renovated warehouse building! But I never got to climb the stairs because around noon on the day of my arrival I received an email from Sonder cancelling my reservation. No call. No explanation. No apology. I had to scramble to find a much more expensive room elsewhere, and then had to demand a refund of the prepaid charge, which Sonder initially denied receiving. I will spare you additional unpleasant details. Suffice it to say I strongly advise anyone to avoid Sonder properties as all costs! Moreover, I question why hotels.com and especially Marriott would sully their reputations by associating themselves with such a slipshod and callous outfit.

I really wanted to give this hotel a better score and i think a lot of it was due to issues with the elevator being out of service for over a week. When we took the stairs to get to our room, the stairwell was filthy. If you knew people had to take the stairs, then I would have spent time making that space much cleaner. The room itself was really nice, it had everything you wanted and had a cool design. Where they missed the mark were the little things.. The TV didn't work right (may have been the remote and didn't really care about watching TV so I did not reach out to get it fixed), the shower was really nice but the temp was a touch higher then lukewarm which was kind of disappointing. On the positive note, the location was great, had some really good places to eat and drink (Especially kaiser tiger. They had great food, solid craft beer list and the staff was top tier. They also runs shuttles to shows at the united center if you didn't want to make the 10-ish minute walk)

Place was amazing! Loved the view from the 5th floor. Only suggestion is make sure the elevator works before you book. Would definitely book again and would love my same space. 10/10. Check for elevator though, or pack light.

Having the elevator not wotking in an old building with the unit being located on the 5th floor. I had 3 large suitcases that had to drag 5 floors made the entire stay miserable for a 62 year old with back problems. Management made zero efforts to resolve or provide compensation for guest their inconveniences. Absolutely miserable stay!!!!

I checked into this hotel 7 pm on July 9, 2025 We entered lobby elevator was out of service We had to manually carry all 8 bags, each weighing 50 lb, up to the 4th floor. At checkout time, the elevator was still out of service, so we had to carry them all down again. I inquired about the elevator with other guests who informed me it had been out of service since the previous I complained multiple times through their 'Sondor' application, but received no response to the issue. they have no answer for this problem.

Sonder By Marriott Was In A Great Location, Near Many Walkable Stores & Restaurants In The West Loop. The Studio Was Spacious With A Fully Functional Kitchen Space With Full Fridge. The Only Downside To The Space Was During A 3 Day Get Away The Elevator Was Out Of Service The Entire Time. This Wouldn’t Have Been Too Bad If We Stayed On The 2nd Or 3rd Floor But We Were On The 4th & The Stairway Had No AC. Nevertheless, I’d Stay Again But I Hope To Get Some Form Of Compensation For The Inconvenience

I was hoping for this to be a bit of a different review. It was a decent stay if not for the fact of some technical problems with the elevator and the soap dispenser in the bathroom. But unfortunately i was charged twice for my room and at the time of this review am left in the dark by Sonder on if or when i will have one of those charges reversed. Once that is fixed i will be able to give a more precise and thought out review with a more accurate score.

Not as nice as we hoped

Room was extremely hot upon entry. Elevator was out and caused issues for us since we were on the 5th floor. Reported loud noises via the Sonder chatbot and didn't receive final resolution though the noises stopped after a couple hours.
