The only complaint I have is there's Wifi but the televisions aren't smart TVs. The local television is obviously in Spanish, but my wife and I don't speak Spanish. We didn't come to Cozumel to watch television but given the fact that we had to escape the heat, TV would have been nice. We had to watch from our cell phones. The dude running the disco could have been nicer too, he catered to my wife but I was on my own. The waverunner we rented was nice but given the rules and how they police you when you go out was utterly ridiculous. And at $80 for a half hour, I'd pass.

Love the staff, and food was great. The location would be good except getting around is a little hard especially when you want to explore the town, you'll need to taxi back and forth.

We ignored the negative reviews of this place and wish we listened. Disappointing. Got eaten alive by mosquitos. They don't tell you the resort is close to a swamp with stagnant water hence all the mozzies. They don't tell you the resort loses water pressure. You can't shower, you can't flush the toilet whenever you want. gift shop gouges on prices. Nothing done with urgency. All they say is "I'm sorry" and care even less. The food and dining options were not great. They have different restaurants and schedules every night: we always had to ask 3 times because we were constantly given the wrong info EVERYDAY!! It got really old. We avoided all of the "specialty" a la carte restaurants if we could after waiting 2 hours for our food the 2nd night. The buffet offering was fair Issue with our 1st room: got moved to another room. Our new room's ceiling leaked water all over my suitcase overnight. By then I just couldn't say anything anymore. We were so over it. The concierge at the front lobby overwhelm and push guests checking in with wanting an on the spot commitment to a slot for 90 minute sales pitch early in the morning and then calls non stop if no one goes. Get the message: don't get pushy when people say no or indicate they are not interested!!! We came to enjoy the resort, not sales pitches at 8am in the morning!!! We'll go back to Cozumel but not to this resort.

Requested to be moved out of the first room and the 2nd room was leaking from the room and everytimw we walked into the room it felt like we were being hit wirh a fine mist which was coming through the roof

The property needed updating in the pool areas and to go to lunch it’s a long walk with a disability. Other than that the place was phenomenal. The understanding of what you’re getting room wise is a little difficult between Expedia and the resort but the resort made everything work once we arrived. But we had to get assistance from a manager

Would go back for the friendliness of the staff, and the gorgeous beach. Great options at all of the buffets. We enjoyed the oriental restaurant. Our dive shop picked us up at the dock every day. We loved the fast service at the bars and the lovely ladies serving drinks on the beach. Really the staff were so kind. The grounds are beautiful. Our 2nd floor room was small but what we needed. We would have appreciated the AC to be a little more predictable, and there was quite a strong musty smell. I imagine 1st floor would be better since the buildings are thatch roof. Another issue was a faint smell of sewage from the water. All in all, this resort made for a fantastic budget vacation. Lots of families at the resort. The kids water park area looked suited best for ages 5 and under. Lots of activities happening at front pool and beach for all ages. We didn’t venture out at night because we go to bed early but heard some music and entertainment as well just can’t comment on how that was.

Offer more food choices. It was a small selection of food offered several times a week. It got really old after the 3rd night. The Oriental food was the best restaurant and that was the only one with air conditioning which made dining anywhere else very uncomfortable because of the heat and humidity. The cheese on the meat and cheese station was mushy because it was melting because of the heat. Our room had A LOT of small bugs in it. We were told if we had bought into the vacation club we would’ve been upgraded to a room that “ is more better and no bugs”. If you are white, and don’t speak Spanish, learn it because there weren’t many people there that didn’t speak Spanish.

We have been to Cozumel many times and enjoy this side of the island specifically for the beautiful water at the beaches as we have tried the neighboring resorts next to Occidental. I noticed Barcelo owns Occidental and we have been to Barcelo in Cabo so we really loved that resort so we thought let’s give this one a try. We were very disappointed with the food choices at the buffet. It appeared like leftovers and the same thing every day. The meat quality of the steaks in the reservation restaurant Olivos was absolutely terrible as it was presented folded over with a ton of fat on the meat. Of course you can find sustainable food at the buffet like pasta but I didn’t spend money for this resort to eat pasta. At least the property is well kept and clean with beautiful scenery. We may not return to Occidental as this was our least favorite all inclusive resort and we have been to 21 different all inclusive resorts.

The resort is in a nice area. Some of the employees are just rude. The property is old and outdated. The back door in my toom was off track and window in the bathroom didnt close, even after maintenance came and fixed it.The buffet was ok not alot of choices. The specialty resturant if tou can maje a reservation was good especially the seafood restaurant. The drinks were ok alot of extra alcohol needed because they make them weak. I wouldnt recommend this resort.
