Our stay at Secrets was just ok. Nothing over the top. Nothing special. The staff at the restaurants were good and attentive. The first day we got there no one was monitoring the pools or walking by for drinks. We had to get out of the pool and walk over to the bar, which he seemed super irritated. There were no towels and we asked several staff walking by to please get us towels. No one came back. At least 4 staff members. The room was nice and cool but with all the humidity from the ocean, very damp. If you don’t have the ceiling fan going, water accumulates on the floor. I had to wash all my clothes, even the ones I didn’t wear. Our biggest turn off was that there is no buffet. Only for breakfast which is very limited. We had to get dressed, go sit down, order and wait for our food. The food was ok. Nothing horrible. The French restaurant was amazing. They also had a Mayan dinner on the beach which was also amazing. Taxi's are super expensive. We had 6 people in our group and it was $10 a person one way. So a round trip taxi ride was $120 US. We were told they don’t base prices on Pesos because US dollars are widely used. Of course the resort had nothing to do with that. The beach was stunning. Definitely take water shoes as it is quite rocky in places. We were told that we didn’t have access to Dreams which is a sister property and next door. But Dreams guest had access to our facilities? Overall not a horrible stay but probably won’t return.

Secrets Aura Cozumel was absolutely fantastic! Never had to wait to be seated at any of the a la carte restaurants, staff was always friendly and constantly checking on us to make sure everything is taken care of! Do not ignore the hotel's advice about bringing bug spray as mosquitos can bite in the evening. Overall could not be more pleased and happy with the resort and staff!

3rd time at property. Spa is wonderful; however descriptions could be better when booking online, beds comfortable, room service is just as good as restaurants. The only issues I have had everytime is the safe in room. Mine never work no matter how many times I called maintenance.

A/C didn’t work in our room, wouldn’t cool past 78deg. Informed the front desk and the engineer they sent up to fix it said that he has fixed it and it would cool down. Next day I informed them again that it wasn’t working, there was also water dripping from the light above the toilet so it would just drip on you while using it. Never got resolved either. Room was overall just outdated and they didn’t put much effort in making it right.

Room didn't look anything like the pics. Bathroom had stains on the wall, light fixture hanging from wires, 1/8" layer of dust, missing toiletries. Food at Oceana was worst than cafeteria food. We had to leave the resort after checking in and go to another place. Still waiting for refund.

The place is amazing, private beach with clear water, the tours pick you up right there in their own deck, and staff is great, they remember your name and your likes and are always happy to help. The hotel has lots of options for entertainment and food. I recommend the snorkeling experience and the submarine, both incredible. Unfortunately, every night I woke up with small bites on my body. At first I thought it was the mosquitoes in the surroundings, then I thought it was the robe that I slept in the second night, but the last night was so much worse. I left with all my body covered in bites and 2 days later they still itch. Another guest mentioned same bites. The beds might have bedbugs.

The staff at this property are so nice - really professional and friendly. The food, however, is terrible. Like really bad. You are better off eating at restaurants outside of the resort if you decide to stay there. You can tell the staff feel bad about the food they are serving. The other reviews about people getting food poisoning seem spot on. The location is nice and the beach was very clean. But I would not go back because of how bad the food is. Such a shame!

Hotel was a bit run down. Food was mediocre. I’ve had much better food, service and the fact it was a bit run down. I felt the management was in no hurry after several request/days had passed. They were in no hurry to get things done more did they want to help until I had to take a fit in the lobby on the 3rd day of complaints. The only time they really time they wanted to help is when they were taking your money. I’ve never had such bad experiences on a vacation. Would not recommend this hotel. Our first room was riddled with mold. It took me an entire day to get another room. Don’t spend the money on preferred rooms. If I had anything positive to say about this hotel would be that the staff in the restaurant were great. I would suggest an ocean room if you did choose this hotel. I will not be returning.

It was not what the pictures looked like really.. the nicest part was the rooms, very boring resort not much going on.. taxis were very expensive to get to town as well.. had to go eat out of the all inclusive because the food wasn’t all that great.. I orders a bacon wrapped steak.. got it completely raw was barley cook.. not even the bacon was cooked

This property I give it 9 out of 10 only because they don’t tell you if you are flying in from Cancun international airport that it’s a task to get to this resort. This resort is 1 hour and 30 minutes from Cancun international airport. You also have to take a ferry to the island and another taxi from the ferry. Other than that it’s a very relaxing resort, it’s not a turn up resort and not many African Americans go here, so keep that in mind! Elizabeth was the best staff so nice and sweet please give her a raise, she was a waitress. The food was good everything else was amazing. I enjoyed my solo trip. Only issue was getting there. Once you know that then everything else was great. Also there’s not much entertainment.

Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities
The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. Maid service was good. The food service was very poor. Restaurants were closed during days they were listed online as open. Service in the Restaurants was very slow. The food was OK. Definitely not fine dining as listed. It was terrible but certainly not on par with "fine dining" as advertised. The mixed drink quality definitely depedned on which bar tender was working. The drink mixes they used were syrupy sweet and not very good. They push buying into their "vacation club" which is very annoying. The room quality was good, beach was great, it definitely had a lot of potential. But we will likely not stay here again.
