Another lovely stay. Whole place smells fresh and clean, lovely room, cozy, great bed, amenities and TV brilliant, staff amazing. Value for money and just a gem of a hotel.

Stay away!!

First impressions were that the hotel didn’t look as nice as the pictures but we only needed a place to sleep as we travelled (by car starting at 10am, we arrived around 6.40pm) to another destination. Rang the bell to call someone to reception, the gentleman who arrived was polite and friendly. The establishment and rooms smelt musty, and everything was very dated. After being in the room a little longer, we noticed that there were many areas of improvement, and cleaning. For both health and safety! Electrics of the main light on show. Dirty glass. Cups stuck to saucers. Dead silverfish in bathroom. Build up of limescale and dirty shower. The bathroom tap was loose and rusty. Sign in reception asking for “no smoking of weed”. The bed and toilet were surprisingly clean! There were no other establishments available in the area for us to go elsewhere. Whilst one member of the booking was in the shower (I personally refused to use it), the shower head fell on them. Through the night, the walls appeared to be paper thin! Could hear bathrooms, stomping from rooms above, coughing and people in other rooms awake/loud into the early hours (up to 3am). Leather wallet was damaged after it was placed on a wooden dresser, this did not appear sticky etc for an damage to be caused, but you’ll see from the image added it was damaged because it became stuck to the dresser. Unfortunately, there is a limit of 8 photos, but there were many more. Couldn’t wait to leave. Won’t be returning.

Shabby, grubby and dusty and the bed was too small

We paid for a ‘deluxe room’ which included a queen bed which we needed because of shoulder issues. However, it was just a normal double which was not big enough and when we mentioned this, they offered to move us the following day at a time we were not going to be in. Also, the room was filthy. There was dust everywhere, the desk was covered in dirt and grime and the whole room, sold as ‘deluxe’ was far from that. In fact, it was shabby and grubby and not what I expected. The guy on reception was very nice - but for the most part I did not see anyone on reception.

The property was basic as expected of a guest house of this price, but comfy beds, decent shower and good service. The room was spacious and had everything needed.

In a very run down area. Had to climb 3 flights of stairs to fet to room. No food. No staff. Couldnt pay for parking as no one around. Bed was comfy but definitely a no frills hotel

Dangerous! Avoid at all cost!

I’m shocked and disappointed by my experience at Barrington Lodge. I arrived around 9 PM, only to be greeted by suffocating heat throughout the building. There was no air conditioning whatsoever, making the environment nearly unbearable. For a place that markets itself as a hotel, this is simply unacceptable. I immediately raised my concerns with the reception staff and politely requested to cancel my booking due to the unlivable conditions. While Hotels.com was understanding and tried to help, hotel management outright refused to authorize a cancellation, leaving me with no choice but to stay. Unfortunately, things only got worse. Upon entering my room, I was genuinely horrified by the disgusting state of cleanliness. The room was caked in dust and filth, something you’d expect in an abandoned building, not a functioning hotel. I took several photos to document the condition—it was that bad. I returned to reception to complain, and even the staff member admitted that the room was below standard. But surprise, surprise—no alternative rooms were available. I was advised to “follow up with management,” which frankly felt like a way to dodge responsibility. Between the stifling heat, filthy room, and the complete lack of accountability from management, this has easily been one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever experienced.
