The rooms have been freshened up. The one I was in was cute. Unfortunately, it may be a nonsmoking property now, but I would say that the carpet in all of the public areas is holding on to the aromatic history of the place. The freshening of the rooms did not include any sort of sound dampening. It’s probably not as bad if you’re on the second floor, but on the first, it felt like I was sleeping under the floorboards of an old farmhouse. I work up to the 5 o’clock alarm of the neighbour above me, but it took him a full 10 minutes. The price was cheap, so I wasn’t expecting much. If you bring earplugs, you’d probably be fine. The gentleman at the front desk was nice. The games available in the public area was a nice touch. Location was handy for passing through. Overall, okay for a cheap one night stop through. If I stay there again, I’ll ask for a second floor room and still bring ear plugs. I’ve stayed at worse and stayed at better. Wouldn’t say they are an ‘avoid me’ location, but even outfitting the rooms with more sturdy doors may go a long way. And get rid of the carpet.
