I cannot rate the staff at this hotel more. I've travelled for work for years and I've never had better service at a hotel. The team at the Dumfries Arms were exceptional. I can't fault them. My husband and I had a fantastic two night stay, the food at the restaurant was delicious and catered well for my gluten intolerance.

The room appeared tired with predominantly dull brown furniture though armchair seating in our upgraded room was comfortable. The bed seemed springy but in fact we both slept well. Best feature of the room was the bathroom which appeared to have been renovated recently with a roomy walk in shower. Carpeting and flooring throughout was worn and uneven. On arrival the reception and check-in process was ponderous and rather flat. Breakfast the following morning was sparse with few options. Saving grace was the cooked to order menu and made more enjoyable by the cheery and efficient service from Cara - how great to see such a confident and motivated young person.
