Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
We booked a stay at Hotel Festival for a group of nine through Expedia. The hotel photos looked perfectly fine online — clean, updated, and comfortable. The reality could not have been more different.
When we arrived, we found:
• Piles of dirty, used sheets stacked on the laundry room floor
• Dirty flip-flops left in the room for guest use (disgusting and unhygienic)
• Bed bugs clearly visible — on sheets in at least two rooms, and one bed bug even jumped onto a member of our group
• Hair all over the sheets in one of the rooms
This was not just disappointing - it was an unsafe and unsanitary environment. The hotel owner was completely dismissive when we brought the issues to their attention.
We immediately contacted Expedia expecting real support, as the hotel did not provide the accommodations advertised. Instead, Expedia refused to issue a refund despite this being a clear case of misrepresentation and a health hazard. They offered only a tiny credit toward a future booking, which is absolutely unacceptable.
We will never use Expedia again and strongly advise others to avoid relying on their platform. If something goes wrong, you’re on your own.
