The room was clean, but the sink didn't drain. Bed was not comfortable, you could feel the springs. An hour prior to checkout a staff member opened the door, did not knock, and said hello and the left. I went to look who came by and I could see the lady walking down the hall. I wasn't about to shout down the hall to see what she needed. They also tack on an automatic charge of $16 per day at checkout. I've stayed here before and after the renovations. The cleanliness has not changed, but the character is gone. Honestly, it just felt like a standard chain hotel. I like to stay there because of the security, but after a staff member opened my door without knocking, I'll try a different hotel next time. I did notify them at checkout and about the sink, the response was dismissive.

Our stay overall was great, and Alvin truly turned our experience around. Prior to check-in, I called the concierge to ask if there was anything I could arrange to make my husband’s birthday a little extra special. I completely understand that enhancements come at a cost, but the tone of the conversation felt unexpectedly uncomfortable. I was repeatedly reminded of charges (such as $60 for prosecco in the room), and the interaction left me feeling as though I was asking for complimentary items rather than inquiring about available options. It simply felt off. That said, once we arrived, Alvin delivered exactly the kind of hospitality I was hoping for. He was warm, kind, and solution-oriented. He suggested a room upgrade, which I happily paid for, and helped make the celebration feel special. He also provided drink and breakfast vouchers to help us celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch. Alvin was 10/10. If it weren’t for him, I’m not sure we would have chosen to return — but because of his service, we absolutely would.

Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the bed was so hard I just couldn't sleep very well. and that aI asked for a couple of pillows and had to call and remind them to bring them after waiting 1.5 hours to receive them. Otherwise, this is a beautiful hotel and people were wonderfully welcoming.

This was my first stay at the Royal Park Hotel, and they by far exceeded my expectations. I truly felt the royal treatment from start to finish. The room was immaculate, the front desk staff were welcoming and professional, and the valet service was excellent. The overall ambiance of the hotel was exceptional. My name is Clay — you might remember me as the guest with one of the sharpest beards in Michigan. I’ll definitely be back.

All the handicapped parking was blocked off and used by the valet for two groups / parties at the hotel. This is unacceptable. I have a heart condition and made the valet move a car so I could park up front. To add insult to injury I was charged $30 for valet parking overnight. This was not my first stay at the Royal Park. But it may be my last.
