15 minute walk from train station, a few minutes walk to main shopping area. Hotel has excellent position, friendly staff, seaview room excellent, the odd creaking floorboard added to its charm. Recommended for solo travellers.

Wouldn’t stay here again! Nothing like pictured, carpets covered in stains, walls dirty and need a paint, tv was tiny and miles away from the bed. Bathroom was awful, stains by the sink, toilet squished between the shower and the wall so barely any space. Windows were dirty, everything was just run down. Lift was so tiny!

Hotel is perfectly fine for the price I paid. Check in was quick and friendly, room condition was fine and shower worked ok. No noise from other guests. I tried both the breakfast and the evening meal. Breakfast was your average buffet but I was impressed by the dinner quality and options. This is an old hotel that will be getting refurbed later in the year. It should be even better after that.

The hotel was convenient for us but we would not stay again. When windy the windows rattle loudly and the door to our room didn’t feel very safe/secure. There’s a reason they only show “superior rooms” on the website - the standard ones are sub-standard, not very large, mould in the bathroom, musty smell and the property could do with some general improvements throughout (stained carpets, walls, ceiling). Staff pleasant and helpful.

Stayed in the superior room and had a fantastic view of the sea. Staff were nice and friendly and I loved the somersby cider they recommended I try; I was hooked! Bar Manager/Supervisor was very nice and professional and remembered my order which was always a pint of Somersby cider. I would have given 5 srars if they offered room service (although they were kind enough to allow me to bring up my food to the room it would have been easier and nicer to be able to order from the room. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Unfortunately, this did not live up to the pictures at all. It is a very worn out place, where you can hear everything and everyone. Not just the extremely squeaky bed and floor, but actually the guests’ entire conversations in the room above us, so no sleep at all (not thinking about people just outside the hotel firing fireworks in the middle of the night). There’s dirt, dust and hair all owed the room and bathroom, including in the bed. That is beyond disgusting, and we definitely expected something else from the pictures. Not worth the money.
