The staff were very welcoming and helpful, we even received some unexpected complimentary gifts that made our stay even more special. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options and the passion fruit martini's are the bomb. The room was very comfortable and fairly quiet considering the work happening outside.

I paid in full by debit card when I checked in, the payment was approved, but I was still charged a deposit of £60, which shouldn't have been necessary. And now I have to wait for a refund. I have never been charged a deposit by other hotels when paying in advance.

Great location in relation to the train station and old town. Only 15 mins to Edinburgh castle and 20 mins to the bottom of arthurs seat. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Very easy and efficient check in and check out. Would definitely stay here again.

Thought the hotel was really nice, friendly service from reception, concierge and restaurant. Gym was well equipped. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Centrally located for royal mile and princes st.

Lovely stay!

Was a lovely hotel in a lovely part of Edinburgh. The concierge took our bags for us on checkout day so that we were able to continue exploring as our train wasn’t till later on that day. Could not fault anything in the hotel.

Terrible noise from interconnecting door

Booked a family room but wasn’t aware it had an interconnecting door into the room next door. The room next door were very noisy Sid kept us awake until 5.30am. Make sure your family room isn’t interconnecting (unless you opt for it)

Hotel did not resemble that in the photograph. Our room was very cold and noisy, without a functional TV (remote wouldn’t change channel) and the toilet did not work on arrival.

We found it difficult to find the property, as it is covered head to toe in scaffolding. Once inside, the building work is also under refurbishment, with temporary walls throughout. I think a note on the hotel's website about this would have been helpful, as I left feeling disappointed. We were away for my husband's birthday, and had I known building work was happening, I might have chosen elsewhere. The price didnt reflect the current standard of the hotel.

The Hilton Carlton was a perfect hotel to stay while wanting to explore all that Edinburgh has to offer. Old Town and New Town seemed only a few steps away. There were plenty of dining and shopping options all in proximity. The staff was courteous and the rooms were clean. The hallways were a bit of a maze, but helped us get out steps in! Also love Ms the spiral staircase down to the exercise room.
