Fantastic hotel with friendly, professional staff. Sits in a lovely location on George St with lots of Edinburgh highlights on short walking distance. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lovely breakfast that is worth lingering over.

Tomas and his staff were so wonderful in helping to coordinate our return to Edinburgh and the Intercontinental Hotel for a second time. He made things feel personal and not just a business transaction. Would recommend this hotel without reservation.

Hotel is located in the heart of the shopping district. We received a competitive offer for our stay but were rewarded with a room that had only a standard double. Okay that’s fine except the room was freezing and we waited a long time to only get tepid water from the shower. Reception staff were quick in resolving the problem and moved us to another room where everything was as expected - in the renovated area of the hotel. Breakfast choice was adequate but overall hot food again tended to be tepid and looked like it had been sitting for a long time. I ordered porridge but because the wait was too great I went ahead with my cooked breakfast. When it eventually arrived - I had finished the breakfast and didn’t feel like eating the tepid porridge that was presented. Definitely a theme going on with inadequate temperatures. Staff were consistently friendly and efficient throughout our short stay. Reception area is inviting and comfortable. Restaurant was closed as it was a Monday so can’t comment.

Perfect stay with only (very) minor flaws

Perfect stay from check-in to check-out and certainly helped by a better standard of room than our last stay (previous one was small, lacked any element of being special). Reception staff helpful, friendly and welcoming, as were the dining staff. Room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Points to mention for hotel awareness are 1) breakfast, although really good variety, could be warmer and 2) bed pillows full of air rather than fullness. Other than that this was a really enjoyable stay and we hope to repeat again in the future.
