I had a fantastic stay during my city break. The hotel exceeded expectations in every way. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety to start the day right. The location couldn’t be better just a short walk to Tesco for any quick needs, 10 minutes to the charming old town, and also only 10 minutes from the Airport Express bus stop, which made traveling super convenient. Everything was excellent, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city. Want it to sound more casual or more formal?

Hotel was good. Some things to note. In a very quet neighbourhood, short walk to grassmarket and other tourist areas. Not as new as it looks in ghe photos tho and the wifi was terrible! Apparently a known issue and they have contacted their provider which didnt really help us much over our three nights as if was nsver fixed. The air-conditioning didnt work the entire time despite being reset 3 times and room was stuffy. Thankfully the window opened a bit so we slept with thst open. Overall it was a good hotel for ghe price we paid but would look at somewhere different next time which is more modern and closer to the center.

We hadn’t stayed before and hadn’t realised that it was quite a small hotel, but for a two night stay it was fine. The rooms are adequate though there isn’t much space at all to unpack, no drawers and 4 hangers. It was very clean however. We didn’t have breakfast, but the bar, reception and breakfast area are all in one and pretty small. Our main issue was the heating. Since I’ve read the other reviews it’s seems it is a known problem, however the staff acted surprised when on the first morning I complained that I had been cold all night as the air con didn’t seem to heat up but even when we tried to turn it off the fan still blew. They said they’d have maintenance look and put a heater in the room. When we walked in after being out all day the room was hot and stuffy from the fan heater (I’m not sure how safe that is either!) again the air con fan was noisy all night but no heat so we had to keep turning the heater on and off. On check out I mentioned that it hadn’t been ideal having a fan constantly blowing out cool air then haven’t to override it with a fan heater, it was noisy and disrupted our sleep all weekend. Again they seemed surprised, even though we’d already told them the day before and just said they get maintenance to look at it. For this reason I don’t think we’d stay again, unfortunately these things affect a stay and knowing it has been an ongoing issue and not dealt with, feels somewhat misleading.

A gorgeous stay

Totally delightful from start to finish. A great welcome at the front desk, as well as a really helpful member of staff who recalled my phone enquiry from the night before. The room itself was excellent. Not only was it tastefully furnished and decorated, but the bedding invited the best night's sleep I've had in ages. The bathroom was very clean and nicely finished. And best of all, room was really quiet and peaceful. Overall, a total luxury at a competitive and fair price point!

It was okay

Hotel is about 10 mins walk from Edinburgh castle, and guests can ask for a free map of the city from reception. Hotel is small but does the job when staying over for a night or 2. Breakfast is very good with a wide range of options; evening meal is expensive for the small portion you get. Bedrooms are a suitable size for a short stay but you only get 4 hangers which I don’t feel is enough. Additionally, the bathroom extractor fan is on all day and night, so recommend closing the bathroom door and wearing ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper, or have sensitive hearing (like me) as it kept me awake and doesn’t turn off. Staff are helpful and there is luggage storage available if you need somewhere to leave a bag prior to checking in, or have a late flight. Not sure I’d use the hotel again if I came to Edinburgh but it did the job this time around.

The staff were so helpful when we arrived, storing our baggage so we could explore. The room was excellent with a high spec. The beds were very comfy and all necessary toiletries were supplied. The breakfast was excellent. We all stored our luggage on our last day until we were going for our train

Think twice

For a four star hotel the amenities were not great. The bar was also the reception which was also the lounge. Not really conducive to having a drink before or after dinner. Wifi was very poor and in some cases not available and we were on the first floor . Location is a bit far for walking to the castle and centre of Edinburgh. The best thing was the gym which was well appointed if a little small. When three people are in there it gets cramped which tells you all you need to know.

The heating in the hotel was broken, no advance warning they clearly knew about it before hand and where using stall tactics insisting it will be fixed, and is just an issue in your room but over heard several other customers make the same complaint. We had to mention it 7 times and nothing was done we moved rooms and the heating was broken there too, I should have been suspicious the heating was out in the whole hotel with how slow they where to over a different room. Also in the first room the lights stopped working and it still took two complaints to get moved rooms, I understand things can go wrong but lying and being unhelpful is not good, so would avoid staying here.
