We really, really wanted to like this place and in the end we didn’t. It has a lot of potential and hopefully the family running this place can get it sorted.
The staff was friendly but we went into Edinburgh for the evening and had trouble getting in to the hotel when we got back late. We had told them we would be coming back late so we were surprised at the trouble, I wish they had just given us a night key.
The room we had was at the top of the building and somehow collected all of the cooking smells from the evening. The mattress was past its prime and uncomfortable. There was something wrong with the water pressure so showering was challenging.
Dinner was good and was a good value. Breakfast on the other hand was nothing short of amazing.
Accommodation was Brilliant - the front of house Ladies were Outstanding and a Massive Thanks to the cook - Amazing Food

Loved the town and area. People very hospitable. Cute hotel and very reasonable but the room was so small the bed hit the door. If you don’t mind extra tight quarters then go for it.

Amazing value. Not the most luxurious, but fantastic for the price. Warm welcome, clean and comfortable room, even if it was a little dated.
Service from staff and the room were excellent. Food was fantastic, as was the friendly atmosphere in the bar from both staff and locals.
Only downside was the showers in both our rooms, from very poor to almost inoperable. Hoping these are shortly to be replaced.
Cannot say enough how wonderful this hotel is, the bed was so comfortable and had lovely cosy linens on it, the room itself was well done up and had a view of a beautiful clock tower, and the breakfast served was amazing! Our only regret is not eating supper at the restaurant, I’m sure it would have been amazing too!
Staff are really welcoming and kind. The room is very clean.. If you want a quiet place this is your hotel. Thank you so much. We really enjoyed our time in Scotland. Highly recommended

Place was dirty room 5 was so small you could not swing a cat around in it. Bed was uncomfortable and needed a new mattress.
Had a one night stay here on route to the Highlands.
Spotlessly clean and bed very comfy.
Choice of cereal/ full Scottish on offer for breakfast. I opted for poached eggs on toast, which was nice.
No car park as such, but plenty of on road parking.
Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

pleasant stop over enroute to a meeting
An overnight stop over before a meeting. The hotel is fairly old and looks a little tired but was comfortable enough for our overnight stay. Staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast excellent.
Only downside is that parking was very restricted, we were fortunate to find a space outside.
