Great location for shopping and historical sites

Located in the heart of Florence really close to the main train station where there are hundreds of shops, currency exchange and historical sites to visit. It is a very old historic hotel and it has plenty of stairs but the shower was the best one I had in Europe. The entire staff will go out of their way to help you and tend to your every need. They even helped an old codger like me get the bags to the room. The manager at the front desk was extremely helpful. Lots of places very nearby to grab meals, ice cream, etc. Lots of places to shop all around there and lots of activity everywhere. Very quiet at night. When you leave the building you turn your key into the front desk and they all remember what room you're in. Quite quaint. We didn't expect that kind of personal attention but got it just the same.

LOUD AND DIRTY

Location? Best place. Sadly the room and bathroom were filthy and the room and surround rooms were incredibly loud. The plumbing you could hear whine all night.

Value hotel in centre.

Staff were welcoming, polite, friendly and helpful. Hotel was near the Duomo and the station, but not too near. Needs some redecoration and mattresses getting lumpy, but generally clean. Represented vey good value for money.

Never ending stairs 4 floors with luggage!!!!!

Horrible faculty never ending stairs and showers r worst than a madhouse, breakfast... Is a joke ... Pls consider other options

Basic and disappointing

Great Location. Close to Duomo and main train station. After arriving we checked-in and were given out key and then informed there was no lift. Our room was on the 4th floor up 98 steps. Staff offered no help with our case and luggage. The room itself wasn't too bad, it was large and there was a big bed which was comfortable. There is a safe which can be used, however be aware there may be issues. Our safe decided to malfunction the night before we were due to check-out. The staff were going open up the safe but could not say when or how long it would take. We waited in our room until they managed to open it. Note that it took the staff numerous attempts to try to open it and numerous calls to the safe manufacturer. It should also be noted that the staff didn't manage to actually open the safe- it just suddenly decided to work again. The bathroom was mediocre. The main overhead ceiling light did not work and out of the three lights over the sink only one worked. We had told the staff numerous times about this and after being told they would fix them all, they only managed to fix ONE of the two lights over the sink that weren't working. The breakfast was basic with pastries, cereal etc. There is a luggage room on the first floor which we were allowed to use. The WiFi wasn't free. You had to pay 5 Euros for your whole stay and, according to one of the staff members, wasn't very good either.

Very close to all destinations

The room itself was big. Unfortunately, our room had no tub, just a curtain separating shower from toilet. The breakfast selection was a little underwhelming. Free wifi only on the first floor. But as far as location goes, the location was great. Less than five minutes from the train station and from the Duomo. There's a BNL bank less than 3 minutes away which is great for those of us with Bank of America in the states and close to the shopping street. The location is also great for a less than 10 minute walk to the Uffizi gallery and Academic Gallery, which showcase the Birth of Venus and the statue of David. And maybe a 20-30 minute walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo, which provides an absolutely stunning view of the entire city. If you plan on using the hotel just for sleeping and getting ready in the morning, stay here. The location is pretty great.

Simple accommodation in the town centre

It's rather basic no frills accommodation in a central location a couple of hundred yards from the cathedral. Continental breakfast wasn't too bad, paid wifi, a few toiletries. We were there to see the city, not loaf about in the hotel so it was just fine for us.

Hard bed, flat pillows, cramped room. Air conditioner makes loud noises while you are trying to sleep.

DONT STAY HERE

Awful, Staff was very unhelpful and extremely unfriendly. Wifi is expensive. Room was gross. Get ANY type of air conditioning system, its 2015.

Not quite satisfied !

We stayed one night and were disappointed when we noticed that there is no elevator keeping that in mind we had two big luggages and needed to take them to the 3rd floor. Although the hotel is old style,the room was clean. There is no internet in the rooms and just in the lobby. Breakfast is good and the best thing about this hotel is it's lication which is 5 mins walk from frinze smn and in the walking distance to all the attractions of Florence.

Not worth it, no matter how cheap the deal is

The hotel is very close to all of the main attractions in Florence, which is nice, but the streets are pretty loud in the morning. Breakfast is a bit below average (when you compare it to similarly priced hotels in the area and even in other Italian cities). The worst part was the lack of air conditioning. It was over ninety degrees Fahrenheit when we were in Florence and the lack of air conditioning was terrible no matter what time of day it was - afternoon, evening, and even at night. We were sweating and uncomfortable even when we had all of the windows open at night and that severely affected our sleep. The room was tiny and somewhat awkwardly organized (very little space to walk). My husband and I like to live in cheaper hotels so we can maximize our activities/sightseeing budget, but this was the least comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in. It's definitely worth paying a few extra dollars to get something more comfortable. And alway check for air conditioning!

Disappointed on all accounts

When I came early, they offered to keep my luggage, but it was in an unlocked room that any person could have entered, and several other guests must have known about because they stored their items there as well. There were no cameras in this room, and anyone could have stolen from the bags inside. Additionally, I had reserved a room with two beds, but the person checking me in said there were none available. they only gave me a room with three beds after I became noticeably irritated with them. There was no wifi available at all, even though they speak of wifi. I was not offered any other solutions, even after asking for places nearby with free wifi. The toilet seat was broken, and the fan in the bathroom made concerning noises every time the light was turned on. Overall, this stay was extremely disappointing. I would not stay here again and do not recommend anyone does either.

excellent location, but hotel need renovation.

the hotel staff are ok, hotel in central location to train station florence centre, but the hotel needs renovating, bathrooms are dirty, carpets old and shoddy. too high priced for the hotel and more of 2 star than 3 star i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel has no lift so if you are not able to climb stairs this hotel is not for you we were on the 4th floor and it was 83 steps to our room.

Never Again

We only stayed in this hotel for one night, as planned. When we arrived, we found that the air conditioner in the room was broken. The room overall, however, was dingy, the walls were scuffed and chipped, and overall the room felt dirty. The concierge, however, was nice and concerned, so he moved us to a room across the hall. The room across the hall seemed to be a bit cleaner (or less abused), although the air conditioner only blew hot air in the end. This hotel amounted to a sleepless, hot night, and many bug bites from having to keep the windows open.

Great location but we were disappointed.

We were disappointed. Even thought this is a great location, the front desk staff were quite rude, breakfast was very limited and hotel en rooms felt dirty and stuffy. Our room 34 was the smallest ive seen. Tthe bathroom had no space to even move. There should be better options for the price.

Terrible hotel

Other than the location, there is nothing positive I can say about this hotel. The rooms were very dirty and smelled, the beds were uncomfortable, the showers were tiny, and the breakfast was terrible (right down to serving bread with slices of individually wrapped processed cheese). The breakfast was so bad we had to go elsewhere for breakfast. If price is a consideration, I'm certain there are other hotels one can go to that are about the same price, just as well located, and are actually clean.

Good location, No elevator

My wife and I stayed there for 3 night in Oct, 2014. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok - like continental breakfast in US hotels. However, our room was on 4th floor and there were 84 steps to get to our room. Carrying suitcases up all these steps was a pain. There was no elevator and hotel staff didn't help with that either. Daily up/down was a pain. So be aware. On the positive side, it is a good location - train station and all the major attractions are within walking distance.
