Villa Scannagallo has a long history in our territory, its presence dating back to the 13th century, as attested by ancient documents. At the villa, it is said, the first peace agreement was drawn up between the Florentines and Sienese after the bloody Battle of Scannagallo in 1554, from which the villa takes its name. The glorious battle was immortalised by Giorgio Vasari in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio.
It is situated just outside the small village of Pozzo della Chiana, a five-minute walk away, on a gentle, panoramic hillside. In Pozzo you will find a bar, a pizzeria, a small grocery store where you can buy fresh bread every morning and a pharmacy. Supermarkets and typical restaurants in Foiano della Chiana about 5 km away. The villa is perfect for enjoying a relaxing holiday but also as a starting point for discovering Tuscany, its villages and nearby cities of art.

The villa, made of red bricks in typical Sienese style with its characteristic turret dominating the ancient building, is divided into 6 independent units that allow large groups divided into several households to preserve their privacy while enjoying a shared holiday. On the ground floor there is a spacious communal lounge where everyone can gather together. The lounge is equipped with all amenities, a bathroom with shower and a well-equipped kitchen with 2 fridges with freezer, dishwasher, oven and various appliances. The living room opens onto a large terrace equipped with tables and chairs for your outdoor meals.
The apartments are tastefully finished and furnished and hark back to ancient times with their arches, wooden beams, exposed brick walls and beautiful period fireplaces, and are equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. On the ground floor there is also a laundry room with 2 washing machines and sinks and a room equipped with iron and ironing board.

The outdoor space is certainly one of the highlights of the property. It is surrounded by a fenced park with ample green spaces equipped with garden furniture and alternating areas of lawn with areas of centuries-old trees, corners designed for taking a break to read a book, or stroll among the countless flowers and scents to treat oneself to moments of physical and spiritual wellbeing. For children, there is a play area with a swing, slide, table tennis and an enclosed five-a-side football pitch, which is also suitable for volleyball and basketball.
At your disposal and for your exclusive use is a beautiful swimming pool (size 6x12 metres - depth 1,50-2,00 metres) surrounded by olive trees, equipped with a sunbathing area with parasols and sunbeds and a hot-water shower. The pool area is completely fenced off.
The villa has a beautiful stone terrace from which you will be able to fall in love with the fantastic panorama of the Tuscan hills, you will be able to enjoy the view of Castiglion Fiorentino, Montecchio Castle and Cortona. The terrace located under century-old trees, equipped with tables and chairs for eating outside, from sunset will offer you the chance to admire the thousands of lights that illuminate the surrounding hills and villages. Next to the terrace is a barbecue area for excellent grills and a wood-burning oven for baking pizzas, focaccia, bread and tasty roasts. Parking and a vegetable garden with local produce are also available.
