What better way to spend time at Folly than staying in an updated, classic family beach house within a very short walk to everything Folly has to offer. The Iguana is two blocks to the beach and just a block away from all the shops and restaurants on Center Street – put your flip flops on and you’re ready to go.

The Iguana accommodates six guests comfortably with three generously sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. The open floor plan, large screened front porch and back deck all provide lots of space to relax together. After enjoying the sun of the beach, grill out in the expansive shady back yard where there’s an outdoor shower for rinsing off, table and chairs for six, and a hammock for naps.

The house is kept immaculately clean, the kitchen is fully equipped with two fridges, there’s a full sized washer and dryer, all quality linens are provided, and beach gear available for guests includes chairs, a small cooler, and rolling cart.

The owners have gone the extra mile to keep the original 1950’s feel of The Iguana while modernizing the house for the best of both worlds – comfort and convenience with the authentic experience of a true beach house at Folly.

The Casita Azul and Casita Amarillo are two cottages on the far side of the property that are also available from another owner. Rent all three places and bring the entire extended family!

Perfect Location and Size

The Iguana met our needs perfectly! We were down visiting our son who lives on James Island, but we love the beach. The Iguana was only 15 minutes from his apartment and just a few minutes walk to the beach and the center of town. Loved having two bathrooms and the screened front porch. We'll be back!!

Right Around The Corner From Everything

Location, Location, Location. 1 block from Rita's and all of the downtown attractions. Great communication with the Host. Kind of a mezzanine elevation with relation to the street, so it creates its own privacy. Comfortable bedrooms and living space, large kitchen. Adequate parking. Could not ask for more. Highly recommended.

Long weekend away

It was our first time visiting South Carolina. The house is beautiful and in a great location. Everything was provided and checking in and out super easy. Only thing was in pictures it showed a backyard with grass. There was no grass so walking our dog was a challenge. But, the house is so convenient to restaurants and shops and getting to the beach. Loved hearing the ocean from the front porch!

Thanksgiving getaway

Meet our kids in folly for thanksgiving. The place was perfect. Great location! Plenty of room for the 5 of us and clean. Kitchen was well stocked and worked well for thanksgiving dinner. Bonus was a gas stove and extra fridge! Owner was very accommodating and responsive. Would definitely stay here again!

A restful porch at The Iguana

Loved the warm wood feel of the house, the 2 porches and the big oak tree in the back was so peaceful and quiet. A well stocked kitchen and a gas grill. A short walk to the beach. Just a all around great place. Would love to stay here again.

Great location for ocean!

We had a great time staying here and walking to the beach, restaurants, and ice cream trucks! Sadly, it was quite humid because of the hurricane that had passed but being by the ocean helped. The AC in the home worked wonderfully! It was also nice sitting on the front porch with the ceiling fan. The beds were comfy and everyone slept well.

Iguana house is the place to stay

We absolutely loved the ambiance of the house! My priority is cleanliness and Iguana was immaculate. Second is good beds and kitchen amenities. Beds were wonderfully comfortable - best sleep! Kitchen is fully stocked and very clean, with additional amenities you don't normally get at other rentals - coffee pods so we didn't have to run to the store right off, beach towels, small soap/shampoo/conditioner. Everything was set out so nicely, we just moved right in and started our vacation with no worries! We will definitely rent again. The owner - Tim McCarrell was great to work with and quickly responded to questions during the entire rental process and while we were there. Very close to the ocean - we walked down each day to "our" beach area, but then took a less than 5 minute ride to the state park and marina - a straight shot down Ashley, If you are an avid walker and not much to carry, you could walk it. We walked to everything else - loads of great places to eat at the end of the Cooper Ave., boutiques, art galleries - we loved Crab Shack, Rita's and Woody's. We've eaten at all three at least three times and nevery been disappointed. Park your car, walk and enjoy the Iguana house, Tim will make sure you have all you need.

Classic Cottage with fun decor

Although the pictures are dated, the cottage was clean and the owner was very responsive and helpful. Located a block off the main strip and behind the fire station, it’s not the quietest place but not loud either. It’s also fun to be able to walk and get to the great/unique local restaurants and shops so quickly. Beach access was also good and a short walk. If you want a cool old-school beach cottage that is close to the action and the beach, this place is for you. If you want secluded and modern, probably not. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and appreciated The Iguana!

Perfect girls weekend get away!

The house is a super cute beachy atmosphere that has everything you need to hang out comfortably with a bonus of the perfect location for ANYTHING you will do on Folly Beach. Tim made everything easy and quickly answered ANY questions we had. All 3 of us girls (and one was a fussy personality) absolutely LOVED this house and would highly recommend it. If we come back to Folly Beach, this will be where we stay for sure! P.S. It was wonderful to have beach chairs we could use. That was a bonus!

Perfect location

We got in late at night and our young adult kids were excited to find Center Street still awake! House was easy to get into and very clean (not to mention cool in the middle of July). It is a prime spot for the beach and the main street, we never had to move our car. Tim was super responsive and helpful whenever we had a question. I am usually ready to get home by the end of the week, this was the first time i was sad to go. The house was really comfortable and had everything we needed and then some. They truly thought of everything. Can't wait to go back again!

Love the iguana!

The house was perfect for us. Good little beach house and the location was great. We could walk to everything we wanted to. The house had everything we needed and we would definitely rent it again. We were 5 adults so 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was perfect. The screened porch was really nice, great for people watching.
