The charmingly rustic exterior hides an elegant, airy bedroom, full of light thanks to several large windows. The four-poster double bed is made of delicate wrought iron. The sofa converts into a comfortable double bed. There is a cosy banquette, a flat-screen TV, large wardrobe and a glass, laptop-friendly workspace.

The beautiful bathroom, made of pale Ostuni stone, is equipped with a glass shower, bidet, basin and WC.

Location
The Relais Santa Maria del Morige is just 3.5km from the Ionian coast, which is blessed with some beautiful beaches such as Santa Maria Al Bango (7 minutes drive), Santa Caterina (12 minutes) and the marine reserve of Porto Selvaggio (22 minutes). The fine white sand with gentle sloping shores make this coast particularly appealing for families with children.

Just 10 minutes away is the charming town of Nardo, with its Baroque squares and winding streets, which have yet to be overwhelmed by tourists. It is a food paradise and has many excellent restaurants serving fresh local food.

Further down the Ionian coast, the historic town of Gallipoli (15 minutes) is a very popular tourist destination during the summer months. In Greek, Gallipoli means “beautiful city” and the town does not disappoint. The town’s ancient walls soar over the harbour and fishing port. There are many excellent restaurants in the town, serving the freshest catch of the day. It makes a fascinating day out.
